Hi Fangio!

The General being decorated by Paulus is General der Infanterie Alexander Hartmann.

Hey FANGIO,

I think it could not be Italy or Kursk because Bärenfänger was never there he was Btl.-leader on the Krim when getting the RK and than he was in Kaukasus and Kuban and later again Krim but since his time in Kuban area he had the Eichenlaub...

Furthermore he had the Krimschild and the person on the pic has only the RK, I think there is no Eichenlaub and no Krimschild...

If it is really Bärenfänger the could only made between august 1942(he got the RK) and winter 1942/1943(when he got the Krimschild)...

Also I think that the man on the pic is not very tall, Bärenfänger was eye-catching tall...

Regards

Hannes

Hi Hannes!
I took a look at the site from where I got the picture and it says:
"East Front in photos - The von Kleist Boys"
Take a look: http://rtvmodeler.com/Frenteste/este2.htm
The pic is the last one (right bottom)
Regards.

From late 1942 to 1944 von Kleist was OB of Heeresgruppe A and there was also the 50. ID and its GR 123 where Bärenfänger was leader of III. Btl.!!!

So that could be right but I don't know if the Ferdinands were on the Front in late 1942? I think they first met the Sowjets in Sommer 1943 for the battle of Kursk...

but as I said that time Bärenfänger was leading his Btl. in Kuban area and on Krim...

It's like a mystery!

Regards

Hannes

In an earlier post I said that identify 7 looked like Fritz Tegtmeier. I meant to say Siegfried Freytag. Sorry for being misleading.

Kein Ritterkreuztraeger!

Post by Edward L. Hsiao » 29 Jul 2004 22:09

Dear Sir,

According to das-ritterkreuz.de,he was Horst Wachenhausen. However he was a Kein Ritterkreuztraeger. I think it means that Wachenhausen won the KC unofficially.

This pic was posted by Freiherr and identified by John Toner as Friedrich Bachmeier but looking at http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de I could only find a Josef Bachmeier from the Waffen-SS.
Could anyone give me the rank, date and unit when Friedrich Bachmeier won the RK please?

Regards,

FANGIO

Fangio

I mis-spelled the name. It should be:

Bachmaier, Friedrich Hptm. d.R., Kdr. II./Geb.Jäg.Rgt. 100
