Ebay said " Obst Alfons Eckert" -- and I remember some forum member posted this a while ago.

It looks like it could be ObstLt Alfons Eckhardt, who won his RK as Mj, kmdr III/InfRgt 11 (mot), 14 Div.

Eckhardt2.jpg was from Biblio Verlag.

Anyone know who they were? The general awarding the RK's and the two new recipients' superior officer?

Cheers

Pic posted in http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com forum by Bill Petz. The name Albert Kunz was given but I couldn't find any Albert Kunz, at least in http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de
There is a Hermann Kunz but I'm not sure if this is him.
Anybody has an idea?

PP48 .... showing what was identified as Hans Joachim Brand, StKp 1/StuG 77. If so, could the person on the extreme right be Brand as well? The link between Karl Henze and Brand was that both were StKp of 1/StuG 77. Who's in the middle?

For this message posted page 53, this could be Herbert Ewert which was awarded the RK as an Obst. and Kdr. Pz.Gre.Rgt. 104 and was POW in Afrika.
The Corbis caption is not completely trustworth IMO.

Thank you Denis, I had forgotten that photo I posted. Is the man at his left an italian officer? This german officer is wearing a cuff-title on his right arm, what does it say? any idea?

That would lend further evidence that it was Obst Herbert Ewert. He was put in charge of HG PzGrRgt during the illness of Obst Schultz and he commanded various elements of HG under a KmpfGr Ewert and so he would be entitled to a Herman Göring cuff title -- worn on the right arm as opposed to the "Afrika" cufftitle which would have been worn on the left arm.

On PP53, the four officers were: from left to right, Hans Georg herzog, Karl Decker, Wilhelm Drewes, Gerhard Fischer.

Hi guys
For me the cufftitle is the Afrikakorps one (which must not be mistaken with the Afrika cufftitle)
The Afrikakorps CT is worn on the right sleeve while the Afrika CT (which is a "KAmpfabzeichen") is worn on the left sleeve.
See you soon
Denis
