Post by rlh » 07 Sep 2002 20:32

Does anyone have a photo of the Gau Wartheland badge being worn? I'd appreciate any leads.

Thanks

BADGE IN PLATINUM, GOLD AND DIAMONDS

This example, produced by the firm of Klien, is owned by Wolfe and Hardin. The swastika and date are fabricated from blue sapphires.

Hi Bill

From your first set of picture, I saw a price tag that wrote $7000 or $9000. Is the real price for it??

EAGLE EYE

You have a keen eye, but the price tag was for a group of items that it was in. The going price is around $5K IF you can find an original.

DETAILS

The Warthegau badge is not an official NSDAP Gautraditions-Abzeichen. It is a "Ehrenzeichen für Verdienste im Volkstumskampf". The famous never-instituted diamonds piece found at Schloss Klessheim near Salzburg in 1945 most likely was planned to have been awarded, but never was. It is truly a one of a kind treasure.

The badges were presented by Partiegenossen Arthur Greiser of Reichgau Wartheland. Many have thought for years that it was an official NSDAP Gau tradition badge, but it isn't.

Matt,

Thanks for the picture. Do you have any biographical info on the Obergruppenfuhrer?
