The two of you are real cracks! Thank you very much for your valuable help!

Usually, the GdA should have been designato before. Do you have any designato dates for the following officers who were promoted to GdA during WW2: Caracciolo di Feroleto, Cavallero, Fougier (Aerea), Gariboldi, Geloso, Messe, Nasi and Vercellino?

Hi,

Very little, I'm afraid.

Promotions to Generale designato d’armata:

Caracciolo di Feroleto
xx.12. 1940

Geloso
xx.05.1941

According to La Stampa, Messe appears to have received a straight promotion form GdCA to GdA.

Kind regards,

A bit more

Ubaldo Soddu (23.07.1883 - 20.07.1949)
xx.10.1940 (GdA)

Augusto Grassi (30.05.1875 - xx.xx.19xx)
I think that it doubtful that he should be on the list. By November 1938 he were still listed as Generale di Corpo d'Armata (28.04.1935)

Hi VJK,

Soddu - Yes meant to say november. Is your source this La Stampa article: http://www.archiviolastampa.it/componen ... _22567850/
I notice that while the paper is the 30th, then the date in the article is Roma, 29th. Or do you have the Royal Decre?

Thank you for this on Grazzi, then his promotion date much be after september 1938.

Hi Steen,

After some digging, I found that Soddu was promoted to GdA on 8 November 1940, the same day he replaced Visconti Prasca as CinC Comando Superiore Truppe Albania. Source: http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubaldo_Soddu, which references the source of the date of promotion as "Francesco Pricolo, Ignavia contro eroismo: l’avventura italo-greca: ottobre 1940 – aprile 1941, Roma, Ruffolo Editore, 1946, ISBN 88-428-1604-3", age 31.
