Thanks, Daniel. He is not mentioned in either Fellgiebel or Scherzer as a RKT.

There was a Franz Gierster who kind of looked similar. Could you confirm?

No, those are not the same. Franz Giesler received the Knight's cross on the 29.04.1945 as a Hauptmann in I/FlaKRgt 120. The award has not been officially recognized.

Alive : don't know and difficult to say as he is not acknowledged as a RKT (no info by the OdR, nothing from das-ritterkreuz.de)

This is Jochen Peiper with his Bataillon marching in Italy (Cuneo-area) in August 1943, not 12. SS, but "LSSAH"
