Parfondruy - Trial Heinrich Goltz

#1

Post by Davy » 06 Aug 2006, 21:50

Hi,
i'm looking for info about the trial of Heinrich Goltz and the killing of civilians
at Parfondruy in Stavelot during the Battle of the Bulge.

Who are the other SS-members on the trial and what did they do,
where and when was this trial (Belgium?),
and how many years did they sit in prison?

Alsoo other info (names, OoB, pictures,...) about Kampfgruppe Knittel is still welcome?

Greatings Davy.

I have researched this is detail but I am on holiday and my files are at home.

In short:

"Who are the other SS-members on the trial and what did they do" - see the information I posted in the topic linked by Büffel. For more info I must check my files.

"where and when was this trial (Belgium?)" - In Liège (Lüttich, Luik) in 1948

"and how many years did they sit in prison?" - Goltz was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment but served less. I must check my files for details when I am back home

"Alsoo other info (names, OoB, pictures,...) about Kampfgruppe Knittel is still welcome?" - you'll have to tell me very specific what you want to know about KG Knittel. I simply have to much information in my files. But this topic...

http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=103951

...might help as I have posted pics of Reuß and Coblenz there.

Also check your pm box.

In addition, as I suppose your native tongue is Dutch (Flemish). I once posted this short biography of Goltz in a Dutch forum...

Thanks Timo,
that is great info.
Do you have the names of the SS-members who are tried together with Goltz?
Here is a picture of the grave of SS-Untersturmführer Heinrich Dröge?
He is buried in Lommel, Belgium.
Where can i found a casualtylist of SS-men (LSSAH, Das Reich, Hitlerjugend, Hohenstaufen...) who are been killed in the Bulge?

Greatings Davy.

Those are indeed the names. The grave at Lommel is indeed the Untersturmführer who led the Pionierzug in the Ardennes, the man responsible for the killings in Parfondruy.

Ludwig Sieber, the Untersturmführer who led the III. Zug of the 2. Kompanie in the Ardennes, the man responsible for the killings in the Legaye House in Stavelot, was killed in action on April 2, 1945, in Steinabrückl in Austria. He was in command of the 2. Kompanie at that time. Unterscharführer Herold and his driver Rottenführer Bilan, took the body with them on the engine deck of an SPW but later left the body behind in an unknown hamlet when the villagers promised to burry Sieber. His body has not been recovered by the Volksbund and he is listed as missing in action.

As for the other question: no such casualty list exists.

Thanks Timo and Dylan.

Dylan, these men, are they in the Pionierzug of Dröge?

Timo, i'm looking for everything about the SS in the Bulge, specialy LSSAH (OoB, pictures, storys, KIA, ...).
There is so mutch to find about the SS, but i'm only interested in the actions of the 6.Panzerarmee in the Battle of the Bulge.
Do you know where i can find the personalliste of the SS.AA1, and other units of december 1944?

And if anyone have more names of SS-men buried in Lommel, i want to take a picture of the grave and post it here.

Greatings Davy.

Such a Personalliste does not exist for December 1944, they did not survive the war. Problem is, if I post everything I have written and collected about SS AA 1 here, it would be almost 500 pages of unit history and thousands of pages from my files: documents, letters from veterans, photo's, etc. That's why I asked if you have specific questions. Did you check the PM I've send you?

It would be quite a job to add all I know to your list. My Ardennes chapter is currently 46 pages and my list with short biographical data is another 140 pages. I hope this is sufficient for what you want.

Two men from SS AA 1 buried at Lommel are:

Rottenführer Richard Döbele (2. April 1923), gefallen am 20. Dezember 1944 bei Petit-Spai, Endgrablage: Block 50, Grab 208
Oberscharführer Willi Holzinger (5. Januar 1918), Endgrablage: Block 8, Grab 557

Most other names I have of SS AA 1 men at Lommel are burried as unknown soldiers.

Hi Timo,

also Rolf Telle is buried in Lommel, but his rank here is Rottenführer, not an Untersturmführer.
What is the correct rank of him?

Rolf Telle (born in Döbeln, 2 June 1922) was definitely an Untersturmführer.
