I would also say it is Wilhelm Beier.

That's very exciting. Pic of Hptm Gerhard Morich. Fellow 4/KG4 General Wever pilot. Odenhardt was his beobachter. Never seen before, at least by my count.

100% sure as you can make out from upper left hand corner of pic, plus death date was indeed 21.01.1986
Thanks a lot Freiherr.
Didn't pay attention to the date on the upper left hand corner of the photo.
Best,

@Freiherr: are you sure about Buschenhagen? I am not. Buschenhagen was German WWI officer and hold both ICs. But the General on the pic just has IC1 from WW2.
Therefore it should be wether a younger General which took not part in WW1 or a former Austrian officer like General de Angelis. De De Angelis was not holder of the WW1 ICs but got both of them in 1940. And he was holder of the Winter-Medal 1941/42.

What do you mean about this suggestion?

You raised a good point, Christian. I was never too comfortable with it being Buschenhagen, as the general in the pic had a face thinner than most pics of Buschenhagen I have seen. Unfortunately, all the pics I have of Buschenhagen are not complete enough to see if he wore spang to his IC, or he was mostly wearing a long overcoat hanging around Falkenhorst. Buschenhagen is the common caption to this pic in question. So maybe it is wrong.

I have one pic of de Angelis showing him wearing ribbon to IC, but not Winter Medal ribbon. There is some resemblance.

If only someone could figure out who the other RKT was. It might narrow the guesses down.
Cheers
Freiherr

Hi Freiherr!

"If only someone could figure out who the other RKT was. It might narrow the guesses down.

I would have a match in connection with de Angelis: GdI Ludwig Müller. KC as GenLt and Cdr. 97. JägerDivision (look at his "Bergmütze"! a hint in additon) in the XXXXIV Army Corps (Commander de Angelis!!!) on 25.10.43. Oakleaf on 6.4.1944. If wo could check the date of the pic it would be very helpful.

Another man who is looking similar: GenLt August Schmidt, 10. ID/PzGrDiv.

Note: de Angelis was holder of the Winterschlacht-Medaille an I remember to have seen a pic of him wearing the ribbon on his uniform.

Best regards

Christian

Christian,

Well done!! I agree it was de Angelis. I have another shoddy pic of the series. d Angelis had EL on his RK. He won EL on 12.11.43. Judging from the weather, the pic seemed to have been taken in summer 44. d Angelis was alternating between mStFb AOK6 and Kmdr XXXXIV Corp -- under which, as you said, 10 PzGr was a subordinate formation.

The RKT looked more like August Schmidt,a weaker chin and a bigger "Hitler style" moustache than Ludwig Müller.

Now wouldn't it be nice that the DKT was Obst Hans Georg Eismann -- Ia AOK6 -- later Ia for Heinrici in ArmyGr Weichsel? BTW, Eismann is supposed to have published a book. Has anyone seen this? Are there any pic of Eismann out there?

Cheers
Freiherr

@Model: I don´t think so. I have a pic of Postel with some more ribbons from WW1 on his breast.

Maybe Kleemann? But just 15 %.
