Müller Heinrich (Gestapo-Müller)
Does anyone know what unit Heinrich Müller was assigned to during the 1st W War? Was he a fighter pilot or in a two seater unit? Did he have any victories?
All I know is that he was in the Bavarian army, became a pilot and rose to a NCO rank during the war. Does anyone have a complete list of his awards? His tunic shows loops for two long ribbon bars. He was a career policeman serving from about 1920 until 1936 when he became Gestopo Chief.
His awards that I know are:
WWI Bavarian Pilot badge
WWI Bavarian retired pilot badge
EKII 1914
EKI 1914
Bavarian MVK 2. kl mit Schwertern,
Ehrenkreuz des Weltkrieges 1914-1918 mit Schwertern,
SA Sportabzeichen in Bronze,
Deutsche Olympia Ehrenzeichen 1. kl,
Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13 März 1938,
Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1 Oktober 1938,
Goldenes Parteiabzeichen (31 May 1939),
1939 Spange zum 1914 EK-II (29 October 1940),
1939 Spange zum 1914 EK-I (29 October 1940),
KVK-II mit Schwertern,
KVK-I mit Schwertern,
Polizei Dienstauszeichnung in Gold,
Dienstauszeichnungen d. NSDAP in Bronze,
Ritterkreuz des KVK mit Schwertern (15 November 1944).

Not Gestapo-Müller in photo...
That is not Heinrich Müller in the photo- it is SS-Oberführer Georg Wilhelm Müller, a longtime assistant to Goebbels in the Propaganda Ministry who became known as "Müller-Oslo" because of his assignment to Norway (I believe as representative of Propaganda Ministry). Card behind his neck presumably reads "G. W. Müller". That's Admiral Schniewind to his right.
Awards are all wrong- this man did not serve in World War I (note EK II ribbon is for the 1939 EK II [black/white/red]; the Gestapo chief would be wearing the 1914 EK I with 1939 Bar. Also this guy is only SS-Oberführer and the photo is 1942 or later (appears to be newly-designed 1942 SS rank insignia on collar)- by which time the Gestapo chief had been promoted SS-Gruppenführer und Generalleutnant der Polizei.
Best wishes,

"Gestapo" Mueller
I'm sure that I read somewhere recently in a new book that he was pilot in a 2 seat ground attack/light bomber Jasta on the Eastern front.
cheers

No, it's Admiral Otto Ciliax, next to Oberführer Müller.Michael Miller wrote: That's Admiral Schniewind to his right.
