1.-8. Vlh.R are mentioned on the Jatkosodan historia page among engineering units of the GHQ in Summer 1941. Could they in fact be 1. - 8. Vh.Ryhmät whose field post number was in the range 3258 - 3265 according to the list at http://www.google.fi/url?sa=t&source=we ... sA&cad=rja

FE: "Tumbajoen suun ja pisteen x=2700, y=8370 välillä joen eteläpuolella useita omia nuotioita, joille FE heitti paketteja"
And what is rtsv.joukkue?

KV = perhaps at this case kenttävartio (field post?)

FE = perhaps Fokker transport plane (Fokker F.VIIa code FE-2?)

lt. could be an abbreviation of laatikkoa (boxes, cases) but officially (at least today) it ought to be ltk

Partiomuona - patrol ration - rations assigned to troops who had no access to food from field kitchens. Sissimuona - sissi ration - rations somewhat similar to patrol rations - but specifically intended for sissi troops - in general better preserved and lighter in overall weight than patrol rations so that they would last longer and be easier to carry.

Hi everyone! Could you please identify sot.virk. abbreviation. In "Upseerin käsikirja" (1940) I found that virk. = virkailija, but I have no military glossary. Thanks in advance.

I think Sotilasvirkamies is the correct term.

Personnel serving in technical duties belonging to the officers without officer training hold the position of military civil servant (sotilasvirkamies). Their rank is comparable to either Senior Lieutenant, Lieutenant and Staff Sergeant, depending on the level of the civilian education required to serve in this position.

SAK = Svenska arbetskåren = Swedish Work Corps (my guess: an auxiliary unit of Swedish-speaking Finns, to provide labour force for various defence purposes?)

No they were actually Swedes from Sweden, "Rikssvenskar".
They were volunteer construction workers who built a small part of the Salpa line. The whole thing was organized by trade unions and employers organisations and paid for by the Swedish government. Here's an article in Swedish:
