Info on Generalleutnant Erich von Keiser

Post by Andi N » 14 Jul 2006 10:27

Hi,
I am trying to find information (any) on Generalleutnant Erich von Keiser; bibliography, photos etc. Particularly I am trying to verify his whereabouts before 1939 and after 1944; moreover, I have been told he was Stadtkommandant von Dresden at some point, but, again, I have been unable to verify this. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Andi

I found this entry for Keiser in the HPA appointment lists. Does it mean that he remained Kommandeur der Kriegsgefangenen im Wehrkreis II while also commanding Div. z.b.V. 402?

Is there any picture of him available? I couldn't found it anywhere.

No, it means that his assignment as Kdr. Div. 402 ended by 25.09.42, but that he continued to be Kdr. Kgf. II (he covered for some time both roles together)

VJK
the photo shown in the link refers to Keiper (not v. Keiser)

Contrary to the entry in Keilig, according to HPA PV: Keiser became Kommandeur, Division z.b.V. 402 mit Wirkung vom 01. Aug 1940. (NARA T77 R942)

Hello Todd
Is there any mention of who was Kdr.(or Fhr.) Div. z.b.V. 402 before Keiser ? I have a gap between 20.06.1940 and 01.08.1940.
Thanks, Rossano

Rossano,
I was unable to locate any mention of who led Div. z.b.V. 402 from 20. Jun 1940 - 01. Aug 1940.

There must be something wrong with his promotion date to Gen.Maj. z.V.
Dieter gives above 1.9.40 but according to PV/HPA (roll T77 R940) he was on 18.3.40 already GM. z.V., so when was he really promoted to GM. ? So far I checked (+ made their Namen-Register) rolls 937 + 938 + 940, and v. Keiser was to be found in roll 940 only.
Probably the answer to my question is to be found in roll 939 which I´ll start to check in the next days (but maybe somebody found him already in roll 939, under promotions……..)

Just another ignorant clerk who overlooked the "char." in 1940 ...
