Thank you for that amazing list of links.... that'll give us all some reading to do!

I couldn't find much on the First World War in that second Google Books link (the French langauage schoolboy's one), though it's a very long document. Do you know on which page there's any information on WW1 or the German time in Togo?

It's a British officer's first hand account of the fighting. I notice that although the Germans were accused of using non-standard ammunition such as hunting weapons in Togo, this officer quite happily admits to using an Elephant gun against some Germans (who had actually surrendered, although due to some linguistic confusion he thought they were still fighting).

Only brief mention about war in Togo :( on page 83/84 - previous chapter is about the rule of German.
