Hello,

For the second photograph posted by "Sturm78", it is a 320 modèle 70-30 (ex-32 cm modèle 1870-84 with enlarged chamber and a rifling "rajeuni" in 1930 years).
Is the imatriculation number on the painting at the left side of the "poutre-affût" visible?
It is perhaps a 320 modèle 1870-30 of the 373e RALVF which lost his "frette de bouche" during the firing on Haltingen and Binzen (in Germany) the night of the 10 to 11 juni 1940. The gun was send in southern France and it was in Biarritz aera near spanish border at the "armistice".
It is also possible that it is a gun in Mailly-le-Camp and destroyed by the french with some other guns in juni 1940.
Yours sincerely,
Guy François.

Hello

According to the book "Eisenbahnartillerie" the 52 cm H (E) 871 (f) was placed between Kolpino and Krasny Bor
that is a long way from the place you have mentioned . The pilots are talking about december 1941 and the
incident was on 05-01-1942 . Also the barrel is blown to pieces , that could only happen when a rocket + round
was exploded inside the barrel ??

Regards Jos

additional to the 52 cm H. (871 (f)

Source "Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Ritter von Leeb - Tagebuchaufzeichnungen und Lagebeurteilungen aus zwei Weltkriegen" (DVA, 1976)
- "07.11.1941 - Shooting 52 cm (von Leeb) - compare note Frhr. von Grießenbeck on November 7 - "At 2 p.m. was test shooting of a 52 cm howitzer, French booty gun, built in 1916. The projectile weighs 33 cts. powder charge: two to four cts. depending on firing distance of nine to fifteen km. - Ob. And 80 officers as spectators at railroad Pleskau - Gdow, about 6 km south of Pleskau, three shots were made. One firing and one impact we observed. Blast funnel was 400 m away from the target flag. The funnel was about 6 m deep. The operation lasted until 5 p.m."

Hello,
It is a 274 mm modèle 1893, self blasted the 27th may 1918 during german attack on Chemin des Dames.
In 1916 this sliding mount was armed with a 274 mm modèle 1893-96 and in 1917, a 274 mm modèle 1893 gun succeeded the former worn out tube.
Yours sincerely,
Guy François.

Thank you very much for your help, Guy François. :)

I suppose that there is some external difference between the barrels of the 274mm Mle 1893-96 guns recalibrated to 285mm and the barrels of the 274mm Mle 1893 guns....
Could the part located in the red circle be the difference with respect to the original Mle 1893-96 model?

Is it possible to differenciate between a 274mm (285mm) Mle 1893-96 and an 274mm Mle 1887 ?

Not a railway gun but a 380 MM M 1935 naval gun built for the French BB Jean Bart on a transport wagon. Captured by the Germans in 1940, Several were Reused by the German CD in Norway and France.
