Italian tanks in Spanish Civil War

Post by gjs » 30 Dec 2006 22:50

Does anybody know how many and what types of tanks Italy delivered to Franco during the Spanish Civil War?

Well, I believe that all were Fiat-Ansaldo L3/33 and L3/35. Perhaps some Fiat 3000 but I can't confirm it. I also don't know the accurate numbers.

Thanks, Spiro Ewes. I'm looking for the accurate numbers. 1 Fiat 3000 was sold to Spain in 1929 but I don't know whether there were next deliveries and if yes then how many in total were delivered during the civil war. In the Italian Corps there were 149 CV 3/33 & CV 3/35 (L3/33 & L3/35) tankettes. I have also found the total number of 950 (!!!) which seems to be too high. Maybe there were also some of the 21 italian older CV 29 tankettes. If anyone have some details please reply.

Thanks

The Italian CVT ha in use only light tanks L3/33 - L3/35 and some armored cars Lancia 1ZM, but no FIAT 3000.

Ansaldo also created a prototype mounting a Breda 20mm gun for Spai, but it didn't have any success.

Hello everyone; talking about armored .......................................

Italian light armored CV-33 / CV-35.

In 1933, a new design was jointly built by the Fiat Company of Turin and the Ansaldo Company of Genoa. This vehicle was presented as the Fiat-Ansaldo CV-33. Some 300 CV-33 were built. In 1935, a slightly improved CV-33 model was introduced and designated as CV-35. The main differences were that the armor was bolted instead of riveted and that the 6.5 mm machine gun was replaced by 8 mm twin machine guns. Many old CV-33s were upgraded to meet the CV-35's specifications. In 1938, the vehicles were redesignated as L3 / 33 ("L" for Leggero or "light") and L3 / 35 ................................
