Hello All,
My name is Greg Breault and I am making a game called "Bunker" (temp name). Its really just for fun but if anything works out from it thats great. Its primarily an MMO (massively multiplayer online) based game, Axis vs Allies. Also, please excuse me if get any terminology, facts, etc etc wrong, thats why I need you.
Currently the game is at its basic stages, just me working on it, doing concepts, base models of characters and environments. You can see a shot of the base US soldier model here. He was a test case called "Sarge" that I made.

I really just need help on camp layouts etc, what goes where, etc. I will try to be historically accurate, but, it doesn't have to be dead-on. If anyone is interested in consulting on either the Axis or Allied side please give me a hollar. Or I could just post to these forums my questions if no one minds.

@oddessa - thats great! I would greatly appreciate your input. Here is a shot of what I have 'so far' for a small US camp, I will be working on a german basecamp soon, so if you know of any layout I should follow that would be great. I am just winging it.
Once I get some more things done with the first US soldier, and the camp I will put up my server and give people from the forum access. It won't be much to see, but you can check it out.

@Baumer - I am using 3dsMax to make the models and texture them. I will definately keep you guys posted on the progress, and possibly let you log in very soon. The soldier might not 'animate' but rather he will probably 'slide' around until I get his animations in, but that would let you walk around and check things out atleast, what little of it I have.
@oddessa - I am not sure what a command post would look like for the Allied side, were they wooden or a bigger tent? I plan to have sort of an equipment tent in the camp, and a medic tent (most likely using the same model and swap out the texture). I made the small one man tents because I thought they were used, but maybe not? I plan to make the bigger 2 man tents very soon. More crates, sandbag walls, barbed wire, etc, and hopefully figure out a good layout for the small basecamp.
Do you guys know what "classes" they had for each side? I really have to generalize them for the game. For example I have thought of these classes you can be, for either Axis of Allied: Infantryman (can use carbine rifles or thompson (mp40 for axis side), Sniper (sniper rifle, camo), Medic (rifle, medkits, bandages etc), Support (bar, extra ammo). I know everyone did a little of everything, but I believe for the game, and to make it easier on me, I have to really generalize the classes. ie, a infantryman won't be able to use a Sniper rifle, or, he will be horrible at it. ie, a Sniper can't use a Medics medkit, maybe just the bandages.

that is a good you have to have classes for either force such as infrantry mane and heavey weapons teams and the other classes can't use the other classes weapons. and a allies comand post in the camp is normally a big tent or a captured builded and the tents are set up around the building the command post. the game is sounding good.
@oddessa - hmm, were those guards tents around the command post? Right now the command post will probably be a tent. I will use the same big tent as the medic, and Equipment (whats this called?) tent.
@Baumer - hmm, I had these as decoration but thats a pretty good idea. That could even be a Mission, which I dont have a lot of ideas for yet. One idea I got from my brother was "Rescue Pattons Nephew" or son, or something, I have to look it up, for the American side.

I might do a command tent similar to this one. I know its a Roman army tent but, I think its the same idea? And the medic/equipment tents will be more Octagon/circular shaped. Thats my plan anyways, tell me if this is incorrect.

@baumer - good idea. I just wish I had the tech, or programming skills to set something like that up! But I will keep that as a plan for later when I get a programmer. When you create a character you will be able to 1) pick your side, axis/allied 2) pick a class (infantryman, sniper etc) (each class will have a certain look to start 3) Change his face texture (head), and basic clothing/uniform texture (body) 4) pick an accessory to go on him, ie, Glasses, Cigar, Cigarette (all linked to his Head). You will also have a helmet to start with. When you enter the game you will have the item on you specific for your Class, ie Sniper, Sniper Rifle. But, you can go to the Equipment tent and talk to an NPC and you can trade in your weapon for something else, but, you will be incredibly horrible using that weapon if its not for your class. During the game you will gain Rank, and this most likely will be displayed on your Helmet, or shoulder somewhere (havent figured that out yet)
