Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz

#1

Post by Marcus » 17 Feb 2007, 13:28

We've had several different quizes running here in the forum for a while with great success and after requests from the members we're starting one here too.

The rules are very simple:
The first one to post the correct answer to a question, posts a new question (must be on vehicles used by the Axis) and so on.

Since this thread is a bit silent, a question.

In the purest sense, Axis means Germany, Italy and Japan.
My question is how do we consider some of the conquered countries that "joined" the Axis cause, especially countries conquered by Germany.

So, do we consider countries such as Poland, Czechoslovakia, Rumania, Hungary, the Baltic states etc. as conquered countries or as part of the Axis group.

Here, I exclude the Nordic countries and "Western European" countries as my understanding of the history of the time is that they were not quite so willing partners even if they did produce materiel for the German war effort.

I am not trying to start a political discussion, merely that I have a lot of photos in my archives that might be of use in this thread but they are not from the traditional three pure Axis countries.

Any opinions are welcome.

Hi Steve:
I see you have the same trouble I do with double posts.

A tad South and a tad East in terms of the country of origin would be the hint for tonight.

It is an artillery tractor.

Bill,

Vehicles used by Germany (& Austria), Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Romania and Slovakia can be included in this quiz.

Thank you Marcus. I was fairly close.
Steve, you were obviously correct.
I have no idea what your vehicle is but the track design is seen on a lot of Japanese tank type vehicles although this looks more like a logistics or recce vehicle than a tank.

Maybe a Geschutzwagen IVb prototype from 1942 with 105mm howitzer?
