Ilse Koch & her human skin lampshades
Probably only of interest to uk residents only (as noone else will be able to view it), I just saw a trailer for a program on uk tv next week about Ilse Koch and her human skin lamp shades.
Program is called something like "the most evil women in history" Channel 5 - I didnt notice what day or time sorry.
Kobold.

Much a do about an unrepresentative folkloristic detail, as I see it.
The lady had taken fancy to tattooed skins such as were common in the criminal underworld in Germany at the time.
When inmates of Buchenwald who had particularly decorative tattoos on their skins died or were killed, she therefore had lampshades manufactured out of those skins.

The program in question was aired on our Discovery Civilization Channel several months ago (and repeated several times after that). I found it to be informative about Koch's family background and personality. However, they speak of the lampshades/shrunken heads as solid facts, not speculation, which, given previous discussions, I think some of our forum members will have a hard time swallowing.
