Erickson has this general as "travelling to Africa to advise the Ethiopians against the Italians in 1936."

Is this true?

Vehip Pasha (Yanya 1877- Istanbul 1940) He was called by his frienfds as "Kaci Vehip" while his family imigrated from Kaci/Taskent/Turkmenistan. He was borned in Turkish Yanya, today in Greece. His father was the mayor of the city. His brothhers are Esat (Bulkat)Pasha, the famous Turkish General who defended gallipoli in 1915. His other brother was Kazim Taskent the founder of famous Turkish bank "Yapi Kredi". He graduaded from Harbiye the Turkish School of War in 1899 as staf captain. During the years 109-12 he commanded the War School as Major. During the balkan Wars he defended the Fortress Yanya until February 2oth 1913 with his older brother Esad Pasha the commander of an army corps in Yanya region.On February 20 they surraunded to Greeks because of the Peace act between the oponents. He discussed the conditions of surrounder with Greek General Meteksas. After his release from POW he was made colonel and send tp Arabia to Hicaz as 22nd Infntry Division. During the Gallipoli campaign he commanded the 15th Army Corps. Because of his sucsess in gallipoli he was made commander of the 2nd Army in 1917. He hold the Russians with his50000 man and took Trabzon and Hopa in February 24th 1918 back. He captured Batumi on March 26 1918. After the Armistice of Mondros he returned to Istanbul.
During the Italian Etnihopian war he commanded Etnihopians. Under his command Italians couldn't move a meter although they had all kind of equipment and vehicles. But Italians succeeded on the northern front. They defeded the locals and occupied Addis Abbada. Therefore Vehip Pasha returned to Istanbul.

The brothers Esat Pasha and Vehip Pasha were the two operational group commanders at Gallipoli in July 1915--Esat commanded III Corps(Anzac,Suvla),Vehip commanded the Southern Group(Cape Helles).
