Hi Mark, thank for the great contribution! I will update the list in a few days. I can tell you right now that Emil Dürr didn't recieve the badge, he did, however, reciev the knights cross of the iron cross and the honour roll clasp posthumously. Dürr died when he knocked out a Flamethrower tank.

Actually Daniel, I don't think you can say for certain that he didn't receive the badge (posthumously) for certain based just on the facts from the HJ website. A number of Pz.knackers received their awards posthumously. A similar example was Alber who destroyed one tank and died later that same day. He received posthumously EK I., EK II., Panzervernichtungsabzeichen in Silver and the KC.
But back to Alber according to Carell, the HJ soldiers destroyed 4 tanks in that action:
-Dürr 2
-another grenadier 1
-Pak 1

I've updated the list. Most important change is the news that Wolfgang Rust didn't recieve the pz. vern. abz., many thanks to Martin Månsson for revealing this. Also thanks to Mirko B and everyone else that has made contributions.

Best regards/ Daniel

Great, Mark! Nice photos, I was actually saying that I haven't seen the pz. vern. abz. on a camouflage smock yesterday. Here's another interesting photo, thanks to Cristoph. Notice the damaged badge and the rare uniform.

And Rudel?

Was this award restricted to the pedestrians of Heer + Waffen SS? If not or if also Luftwaffe's soldiers had to be enlisted, why Hans Ulrich Rudel was not listed above? He destroyed more than 500 tanks, more than your whole list. He was the real panzerknacker!

The tank destruction badge was awarded to soldiers who destroyed an enemy tank single handedly by a hand held weapon. Anti-tank units were not eligible for this award.
