Welcome alltiger

It has to be that officer:
Most Walter, 13.03.1915, Oblt., -, -, 10.09.1939, VB
By the way. Volksbund gives now his Todes-Vermisstenort as: b. Glowaczow.
So our Masterlist has to be made up.

Poland 1939 KIA German officers

Thanks and understood. It does appear to have been done by and American child. Just wondering if a grandson could have tried to honor his German Grandfather or such. Things happen.
We all run across marked items and will continue to do so no doubt so is there a free site where one can research German Soldiers?

According to: http://www.denkmalprojekt.org/2015/preu ... n-wk2.html
Hauptmann Pepper from Infanterie-Regiment 101 (14.Infanterie-Division) was killed in action in September 1939 in Poland. Googling this name and unit it seems that he was Chef of 10.Kompanie, according to this: http://gliederungundstellenbesetzung.bl ... 101-d.html

Also from the same page, but with no feedback from any web pages:
Hauptmann Siegfried Graf von Moltke from Grenadier-Rgt 89.
Leutnant Heinz Sperling, born 1898 who died around Argenau.

Mrugalla Erich Ernst Emil, 08.08.1896, Hptm. d. R. (VB: Maj.), I. R. [mot.] 69, 20. [mot.] Div., 12.09.1939, VB, H. Gru. Nord
At first I thought I've found another Mrugalla:
Hptm.d.R. Mrugalla, I.R.4, gefallen, 10.09.1939
source: document of II A.K. titled : "Bisherige Offizierverluste in der Zeit vom 1. -16.9.1939"
But than I checked "our" Mrugalla Erich Ernst Emil on Volksbund. They say he was KIA "bei Odpadki bei Modlin". And Modlin is far from 20.Div.(mot.) operations. So I presume this is the same person, but we have incorrect unit in our list. Mrugalla's place of death suits more to I.R.4 (32.Inf.Div. fought by Modlin). So, does H. Gru. Nord list contain some errors ?

According to the same document:
Kaepner (auch Käthner, Kaethner), -, Oblt., Kdr. 9./I. R. 50, 3. Div., 03.09.1939, H. Gru. Nord (nicht beim VB gelistet), Dieckhoff 3. Infanterie-Division, 3. Infanterie-Division (mot.), 3. Panzergrenadier-Division
here: Oblt.d.R. and name written as Kaethner
Bückmann (gem. VB Böckmann) Heinrich, 26.06.1909, Lt., A. A. 3, 3. Div., 03.09.1939 (Topolno, Bez.Bydgoszcz), VB, H. Gru. Nord
here: Lt.d.R. and name written as Boeckmann
Cath (mglw. ident mit Kath mit anderem Sterbebedatum), -, Oblt., I. R. 94, 32. Div., 05.09.1939, H. Gru. Nord
here: Oblt.d.R. and KIA on 03.09.1939.

Ost Friedrich, 08.02.1911, Oblt., -, -, 17.09.1939, VB
most probably:

Dr. Bald Wolfgang, 04.06.1900, Lt., verpfl.O. AA 19, -, 18.09.1939 (Henrykow), VB, List of Personnel Losses XI Korps T-312 R-41 f-551998-552000
Lt.d.R and Verpfl.Offz., Stab/A.A.19
Dr. Pfautsch Joachim, 31.03.1898, Ob. St. Arzt, -, -, 18.09.1939 (Henrykow), VB
Stabsarzt d.R. and Abt.Arzt, Stab/A.A.19
Dr. Hack Hans Werner, 12.10.1909, Lt. d. R., -, -, 18.09.1939 (Henrykow), VB
2./A.A.19
Freiherr von Canitz und Dallwitz Joachim Friedrich Wilhelm 23.03.1917, Lt., -, -, 18.09.1939, VB
Quite strange. He is listed as an officer or beamte in Verlustlite (rank is not visible) but he is not listed in Kriegsrangliste
Most probably he died together with the rest of the 72 soldiers of A.A.19 KIA by Henrykow.

Walther Herbert Richard, 21.07.1904, Lt. d. R., -, -, 08.09.1939, VB

Herbert Walther enlisted in the Wehrmacht on a 12 year contract on the 1st of November 1924. He served his 12 years with merit, and was discharged 31st of October 1936. By this time, he had been promoted up the ranks to Oberfeldwebel. He earned the following awards:

Reichsportabzeichen Bronze
Reichsportabzeichen Silber
Dienstaufzeichnung 4. Klasse
Dienstaufzeichnung 3. Klasse

Miltary service was not over for Herbert Walther though. He was promoted to Leutnant in 1937, and called back for manouvers in 1938/39. And by the time "Fall Weiss" began, he was a Zugführer in S.R 6.

Walthers service in war lasted for a total of 8 days. He was killed in action 08.09.1939 in Radom. It would appear he was posthumously promoted to Oberleutnant.

I just aquired his Wehrpass.
Hi Diaspora1942,
nice to see my fathers signature in Walther's Wehrpass. Walther served in his company (6./Kav.Sch.Rgt 6) in the time from April 39 to June 39.
Here is a picture about the situation on the road from Kielce to Radom when the Polish Army broke through. It seems not the best place for 6./KSR 6 on the road ...

Frodo

Hello
I entered this thread for the first time because of Schusterbauer.
He is here mentioned as an Oberst (I doubt it, an Oberst commanding an Abt. ???), so I guess that he was Obstlt. (so also in div. list) and that he was promoted posthum to Oberst
Rgds.
