Austro-Hungarian warships in Asia?

Post by Christian W. » 12 May 2007 06:40

Can someone please explain me what the Austro-Hungarian cruiser Kaiserin Elizabeth was doing Tsingtao during its battle? Were there any other Austro-Hungarian warships in Asia?

That's a very interesting article Ironmachine, thanks for posting the link.

The mosty interesting part was when it said-

"in 1884, an Austrian mission had even attempted to annex what became British North Borneo and establish an Imperial and Royal presence in eastern waters. This failed,"

Has anyone heard of this before? Does anyone know any more about this attempt?

Cheers
Chris

PS I'm moving this thread to the Austro-Hungarian section of the forum.
