Führer and Turkish Officers

#1

Post by vox stellarum » 15 May 2007, 18:27

Turkish officer committee -under the leadership of General Cemil Cahit Toydemir- invited by Führer himself, visited the Eastern front and English channel coasts between 25 June 1943-7 July 1943. This photo was taken while leaving the Führer's headquartes in Rastenburg. Hope you enjoy this rare photo(s)! I'm also planning to share some documents and articles about Turkish-Nazi friendship in the war as soon as I translate them into English :]. Especially about General Hüseyin Hüsnü Emir Erkilet's meetings with Adolf Hitler (with photos).

By the way, I've already started to identify other German/Turkish officers in the picture. Ýf you know/recognize any of them please, post a message! :]

Hi mjölnir!
Thank you very much for the photo and the link. After a quick search on the site I found a lot of interesting photos!
My quick research was: http://www.ullsteinbild.de./search.php? ... =1932-1946

A lot of pictures with Turkish ambassador Mehmet Hamdi in it with Hitler, Rosenberg, Ribbentrop... I've never seen these before. I've heard it but... And I thought my picture was rare! :]

Another interesting find:

Yay, that's my (not-updated anymore) blog. Those pictures are from Türkenübung. I have a video from that demonstration (Die Deutsche Wochenschau).

clement, thank you very much!

I also have this:
Gen. H. Erkilet, Gen. Ali Fuat Erden and Hitler at Rastenburg.
Image
-I found this picture here on AH, but forgot which thread it was- It's also available on http://www.ullsteinbild.de:

I have a copy of book "Þark Cephesinde Gördüklerim" (roughly translation: On the Ostfront) by H. Erkilet. It's main subject Erkilet and Fuat Erden's meetings with Hitler, Keitel, von Brauchitsch, their visits on the East front, Berlin..., meetings at German Army HQs, dinners with German Generals etc. And Erkilet's adventures(!) with von Hentig. It was printed in 1943. It's a great book. But unfortunately it's not available anymore and only in Turkish.

Photo of the cover:

A photo from the book:

About my first picture. Today, my order from Amazon.com has arrived (The German Army at D-Day: Fighting the Invasion-Edited by David C. Isby) and look what I found:
Image
But strangely it says the photo was taken in 7 December 1943.

Hello vox stellarum!
The date is 12.07.1943!
Perhaps it is a translation mistake! Look at your photos: The date is 12/ 7/1943. In the english version it means: 7.12.1943! But this is wrong!

General of the Army Hüseyin Hüsnü Emir Erkilet was a Lt. Col. the Chief of Staff of the famous army Group Yildirim /Jildirim (The Lightning) during WW1 at Syria Front. You may find my postings about him in his forum.

General of the Army Ali Fuad Erden was as Lt. Col. Chief of Staff of the famous Cemal Pasha the commander of 4th Army at Palastiane and Syria Front in WW1.(Look at my postings in Axis)

General of the Army Cemil Cahit Toydemir ( Istanbul 1883- Ankara 1956) graduated from the War School the Harbiye in 1902.
His Army serial nr: P-1318-311
P for İnfantry
Turkish time 1318 for 1902
Retired:June 15th 1946
Maj. Gen. 1927, Lt. Gen.:1933, Gen.of the Army:1942

Maj. Cemil Cahit commanded the 5th Reg. of the 18th Div. at the fights around Aras River during WW1 at East Front.

Durinng the fights in April-July 1916 at East Front Maj. Cemil Cahit commanded 33th Div. of the 11st AC. He was made commander of the Div. on March 1916. On July 1916 he was appointted to the comandent of the Front Reserves.

Lt. Col. Cemil Cahit commanded the 9th Caucasus Reg of the 5th Caucasus Div.

Lt. Col. Cemil Cahit cpommanded the 5th Caucasus Div. at Amasra after the Armistrace. He met there with Mustafa Kemal Pasha and became one of the organizers of the Turkish National Movement againts invading British and Greeks.
Cemil Cahit with Mustafa Kemal Pasha
http://www.ataturk.net/foto/1919/sam11.html
During the 2nd Battle of Inonu (March 23th- ASpril 4th 1921) and Battle of River Sakarya on August 23th- Spt. 13th 1921) he fought againts Greeks with his 5th Caucasus Div.

TS's NOTA:

The Germans are all looking very sad and disappointed. The Germans couldnt convince the Turks to ally with them unlike the WW1 because both Turkish Officers knew them very well.

Poor Hitler seems very surprised to a question about warfare of Ali Fuad Erden Pasha the old veteran of many wars.

Hüseyin Hüsnü Emir Erkilet
P-1320/1904-5
Retired: Jan. 18th 1932
Maj. Gen.:1926

Sory AJK
His last post was Maj. General. The first poster made a mistake by mentioning his name. Gen. Erkilet was retired that time.
