This one has apparently proved too difficult for everyone. It is SS-Obersturmführer Robert Geschwendtner, Referent of SSPF Galicia, Fritz Katzmann, and administrative leader of forced labour camps. Heavily implicated in the evacuation of Galician Jews and personally responsible for the murder of numerous Jews, his only post-war conviction was for his brutal participation in the Dogger armament project for BMW. He was sentenced to 1 year 4 months in prison, but was deemed unfit for trial in the greater crime of the murder of thousands of Galician Jews.

No problem Ivan. Geschwendtner owned a cigar shop. He joined the NSDAP in 1931 and the SS in 1933. He was responsible for the labour camps along the central supply route for Heeresgruppe Süd between Breslau and the Caucasus. For a while he commanded a Jewish camp on Czwartaków Street in Lemberg. His colleagues were Rudolf Röder and Hans Hildebrand. He was unusually released from the SS in late 1942 at the relatively young age of 50. Geschwendtner is quoted as saying at his trial in 1950, "...we simply let them spend a few nights in tents at the mountain. I'm sure that way the little kids will be frozen to death, and we'll use the old ones as work animals".
Max.

Sorry Michal...over to you.

Thanks for the additional info, Max. (Damn, what a douche... And all he got was 16 months in prison! Sadly, he was not the only one who got away with more than a light punishment.)

OK, over to Michal :)

Ivan
