Re: Marine Peilstelle Ter Linden Brugge
Hello!
The last posting was a while ago, but maybe this is still interesting.
After the invasion of the Netherlands the ancestor of "MPHS Flandern" was build up in
Vlissingen in "Bomvreij"-baracks. In the administrative building was the receiving post
of this "B(Beobachtungs)-Stelle" (SIGINT-post). NNW of Vlissingen near the village
Koudekerke, they build up the Direction Finders (DF). In november 1940 the whole unit
moved to Ter Linden. After the unit moved to Ter Linden a new DF-post was build up in
Middelkerke, not far from the "Admiralitäts-Bunker".
The 1st company was the SIGINT-personnel of Ter Linden, 2nd company were the MPNS,
which belonged to MPHS Flandern and the 3rd company was the staff company. The
Felpostnummer was 22661.
A few answers...
"Auswertung" of "OKM 4. SKL III" (Oberkommando der Marine 4. Seekriegsleitung III ?).
They were ordered to the adress "Tirpitzufer 80" in Berlin. Today the German Ministry
of Defence at Reichspietschufer 80.
ski-jump.
radio-post. In fall 1940 the unit moved to "Stavanger", into Seehotel Viste near Randsberg.
The longwave-DF was build up 2km in direction to Randsberg.
a MPHS, who had to serve from time to time on German warships as a "mobile SIGNIT-group".
One of the baracks in Ter Linden had the name "Fritz Stute Baracke" after a soldier, who
died during a "Bord-Einsatz" in the English Channel.
underneath one of the other baracks was the bunker for the teletype-personnel, who sended
the results of the Auswertung" twice a day (?) to Berlin. This means, that the MPHS had also
transmitting-personnel.
Koudekerke round about 4km.

MPHS Marine Peil Hauptstelle Ter Linden Brugge
Thanks Rolf for the info about what happened before they moved to Brugge.
Yesterday, saturday 30 march 2013, two persons met in Brügge, one was a German Obergefreiter of the Kriegsmarine that worked in the MPHS, the other one a Belgian woman that did mandatory work in the MPHS and served meals in the wooden baracks. Both were present at the time of the air attack on 28 mai 1944, survived and are aged 90 today!!
Last winter we discovered the exact spot of one of the 3 antennas!
I am interested to find out more about MPHS Flandern, anybody can contact me at [email protected]
thanks
Joe

The is a picture of one of the two adcock stations in MPHS Brügge, taken in 1972. Can anybody identify the rectangular forms on top op the concrete walls, they look like some kinds of bricks? Purpose?
