The VDK website gives him the rank of Major, which isn't saying anything but I agree with Iltis that he could be transfered from the Heer to the Waffen-SS and that he was no member of the SS at all. Especially when he's not to be found in any DAL.

And when we believe the VDK website then his full name should have been Friedrich-Karl Scanzoni von Lichtenfels, just as Tjé is telling us....

I had this officer in my files as well but not with all the info mentioned here so now with this new info I can fill up the gabs(didn't had his place of birth, neither his full DoD or the fact that he commanded SS-Freiwilligen-Grenadier-Regiment 80).

Nachname: Scanzoni von Lichtenfels
Vorname: Friedrich-Karl
Dienstgrad: Major
Geburtsdatum: 09.09.1908
Geburtsort: München
Todes-/Vermisstendatum: 25.11.1944
Todes-/Vermisstenort: b.Mohacs a.d. Donau

Greetings,
Mike

Hello Tjé,
The book 'For the Homeland' from Rudolf Pencz says: 'It would appear that SS Volunteer Grenadier Regiment 801 was the regiment commanded by SS-Sturmbannführer Friedrich-Karl Scanzony von Lichtenfels. He was an officer ordered from the Army into the Waffen-SS'.

So from ??-08-1944 till ??-10-1944 commander from SS-Freiwilligen-Gebirgs-Jäger-Regiment 27(he succeeded Sepp Syr and he was succeeded by Anton Holzinger).
And from ??-10-1944 till 25-11-1944 he was commander from SS-Freiwilligen-Grenadier-Regiment 80(he was succeeded by Walter Domes).

Greetings, Mike
