These are jeeps used by SAS units in North West Europe. Note the armoured glass windshield and both appear to have a pair of machine guns at the rear (you can just see the linked barrels). Also the cut away and armoured radiators. The fit of these vehicles in NWE varied greatly. A whole thread with photos over on this modelling site.

Post #10 at the bottom of the first page gives a good summary of their use in NWE.
There were SAS units created from French, Belgian and Dutch personnel. So that could explain the French use.

I think the location is the Netherlands, 1944/45. Crews were the French beret, so French SAS?
