I have been collecting information concerning Paul Nostitz's war time assingments. The best material which I've been able to find so far is his brief bio by Phil in this thread. However, I believe that even Phil has missed some of his assingments. Here is a short summary of "the current state of things":

01 Jul 1937 - 15 Nov 1938 SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 3 "Thüringen"
- Phil's dates. Lexikon der Wehrmacht (LDW) gives 01 Jul 1937 - Oct 1939 but Oct 1939 seems unlikely.

15 Nov 1938 - 02 Nov 1939 SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 2 "Brandenburg"
- Phil's dates. Balsi gives almost the same (15 Nov 1938 - 08 Nov 1939) but I think that he mixed the end date with the end date of Nostitz's assignment in T.I.R. 2. Axis Biographical Research (ABR) gives 11 Nov 1939 - (28 Jul 1940). Not true (?)

06 Oct 1939 - 08 Nov 1939 SS-Totenkopf-Infanterie-Regiment 2
- This one Phil is missing. This is a logical assingment because a lot of "Brandenburger" went to T.I.R. 2. From 06 Oct 1939 to 16 Oct 1939 must have been Aufstellungsstab time. I found the dates from http://www.waffen-ss-combattants.fr. LDW has only the end date (08 Nov 1939), Frontkjemper only one date (1939) and Juanjo/John Moore above gives the starting date as Sep 1939.

Nov 1939 - 1940 SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 9
- This one is a problem. Phil's dates are 01 Nov 1939 - 15 Nov 1940. LDW gives 11 Nov 1939 - 28 Jun 1940, ABR only one date (05 May 1940) and Juanjo/John Moore also only one date (May 1940).

SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 5
- No one else mentiones this assingment. Could this be a mistake as he was already the CO of SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 9 and LDW states that Breithaupt was the CO 01 Dec 1939 - 28 Jul 1940?

12 Sep 1940 - 20 Sep 1940 SS-Infanterie-Regiment 5
- Phil's dates. Frontkjemper has the same dates.

20 Oct 1940 - 18 Aug 1941 SS-Truppenübungsplatz Debica
- Phil's dates. I have a theory that he was a CO in name only at least since July 1941.

1941 Nachschubtruppen 6
- This one Phil is missing. Juanjo/John Moore gives only one date (July 1941). Frontkjemper mentiones 1941.

18 Aug 1941 - 06 Apr 1943 SS-Truppenübungsplatz Debica
- Phil's dates. Führer. CO between 30 Jan 1942 and 20 Mar 1942.

06 Apr 1943 - 22 Oct 1944 SS-Panzergrenadier-Ersatz-Bataillon 1
- Phil's dates.

22 Oct 1944 - 1945 SS-Panzergrenadier-AuE-Bataillon 1
- Phil's dates.

Can someone add, correct or delete the info.

Regards,

Pena V

For some reason Nostitz appears to have been "lightly" interrogated at No. 1 Civilian Internment Camp, Neumünster (British Zone) in 1946. I say "lightly" because everything was handwritten on one page. I would have posted the page but it is very faint - source UK National Archives, AIR 40/2269 (part of the RAF investigation into the murder of RAF officers who escaped from Stalag Luft III (Sagan) in 1944).

1921-1930, with the Schupo (no location)
1 Feb 1930, joined NSDAP
1 Sept 1931, joined SS
Nov 1938-7 Sept 1939, SS-Staf, commander 2.TK Regt, Oranienburg
7 Sept-24 Sept 1939, SS-Staf, commander 2.TK Regt, Ostrowo, Petrikau
24 Sept-4 Oct 1939, SS-Staf, with unit back in Oranienburg
4 Oct-15 Nov 1939, SS-Staf, with unit at Dachau
15 Nov 1939-May 1940, SS-Staf, commander 9.TK Regt, Danzig
May 1940-28 Nov 1940, SS-Staf, with unit to Brünn (he says Brün)
28 Nov 1940-April 1941, hospitalized and at home, Oranienburg
April to 25 April 1941, SS-Staf, "commander of reserve troops for Nord Div", Stettin
25 April-July 1941, as such, in Finland
July-Sept 1941, hospitalized in Berlin
Sept 1941-16 June 1942, SS-Staf, Commander of Truppenübungsplatz Kochanowka, Poland
16 June-Nov 1942, hospitalized in Hofheim
Nov 1942-March 1943, "sick" in Kochanowka
March 1943-March 1944, "sick" in Berlin
March 1944-20 Jan 1945, "sick" in Posen
No further information given.
I put "sick" this way because that is what it appears to say
