Hello All

I am looking for information about one of the M 158 + Haube in this
battery , on the photo you see one of the M 158 + haube in wartime
on the other photo you can see the 2 x 650 and 1 x M 162a and the
same M 158 as in the first photo exploded just after the Liberation.

I am looking for the other M 158 , the one most near the harbour ,
who has any information or photo's of this bunker ?

Photo 1 = Bundesarchiv Koblenz
Photo 2 = CGWW II Brussel

Regards Jos

Hi Jos,

there's a picture of one of the M 158, before it was roofed, at page 29 of the book 'De Atlantische Muur Deel 2' by Alain van Geeteruyen and Dirk Peeters, but something tells me you already know the book... :)

Otherwise, did you know http://www.beeldbankoostende.be?
Most of the pictures here show the 650's and the 162a.

So, if I'm correct, the MKB Kursaal had 4 x 10.5 placed in 2 x M 158 and 2 x M 650? Or were there any other bunkers?

Regards,

Barovic

A other quistion , I have heard that a famous Belgiam ciniast ( moviemaker ) made a
short movie about Oostende just after the war , in the movie there are a lot of bunkers
at the coast of Oostende , who knows what movie I search and where can I find it ???

Also I have heard that there is a piece of a Wochenschau during a visit of von Rundstedt
at M.K.B. Kursaal , who knows more all info is welcome .

Hi Jos,

about the Belgian moviemaker, must be Henri Storck I guess; he was born in Oostende and is very well known for his Misère au Borinage. Where to find his work is another question however...

Greetings,

Barovic.

Hallo All

It's a terrible photo , but very interesting because you can see a decoy W.R. radar on the roof of the hotel .

Hi Jos,
Interesting photo. There must have been a real W-R in the vicinity in an equally prominent location, do you know where that was?

Thank you. If memory does not fail me, that was a radar school.

Hello Jos,

here's another picture form Beeldbank Oostende; to have a bigger format you can take a download at the site.
I'm having a bit of trouble about this bunker (at the back), so maybe you can help me out?

To me this looks very much like the back of the M162a of M.K.B. Kursaal. The problem is that the location of it is all wrong, this bunker was located near the Ventiaanse Gaanderijen (which you can see very clearly on the picture), seen from the Koninginnelaan according to Beeldbank. So what type of bunker could it be then?

Sakkers and Houterman place a 656 at this location, but on the picture it doesn't really have the looks of that.

Thanks for any help.

Hello Barovic

I think that there are not the Ventiaanse Gaanderijen but the basement of the demolished Kursaal .
Having a lot of trouble to locate the bunkers at M.K.B. Kursaal just like you .
