Well, since I know MacLean from some older photos, the quiz one meant nothing to me. :?
(It is interesting how many Englishmen can pose as Russians: Sir Paul Dukes, Fitzroy MacLean - as seen, Daniel Craig... :D )
Hints about diplomacy, writing & rapid promotions did the deal - I read 2nd & 3rd part of "Eastern Approaches" (very interesting reading :) )

New quiz item: (rifle identification doesn't count  )

Hallo Edge:

French limited production vehicles are not my area of expertise, but it does look very much like a Latil M7t1.

Latil M7T1. Probably the 1944 version with the big bumper (or a contemporary pic taken during a reenactment show with a restaured vehicle).

OOPS! Had not noticed Bill's answer. Sorry!
But 641 BDX 77 seems to be a contemporary civilian registration number and the landscape does not look very WW II like.
So it can be a restaured vehicle with a more or less erractic bumper cosmetic reconstruction.

Hallo iffig:

I think you are correct in that this is a fairly recent photo.
Here is a photo "Of it's time".

And two pics of the 1944 modification can be found here, together with a lot of pics of military Latils:

Hallo Edge & iffig:

Briefly said, I have for the past three months been going through the procedure to turn over my company to my Son which I will do on 01 January 2011.

I am not trying to brag on myself here but it is a fairly large retail store, of some 3,000 sq meters and with a turnover of around $4 million per year and with about 30 employees. I had no idea of all of the things I had been doing every day for the last 18 years and I had no idea how long it would take to train him in all of these little detail issues. He has been running the store for 2 years now but only in the sense of the day to day activities, not budgeting, accounting, negotiating with the landlord etc. etc. Suffice to say it has taken a lot of time away from my favourite hobby.

I hope to devote a lot more time to this and other Forums in the near future.

So, to the quiz. I present a Marine Corps General Officer who had a very interesting and challenging career and is very highly respected by those who knew him, including myself. He was very much a Don Quixote type of individual, always fighting the windmills.
