Atis Snebergs was borned at 1922. ILUKSTE reg. willage KURCUMI. !1942 . or 1943. graduated RIGA Technical college. 1943. joined in Latvian legion 19. waffen SS division 1. battalion, his father capt. Karlis Snebergs was commander of this battalion. In July 27, 1943 Atis was sent to ARGUS to join in instructors course. During this course he met Harijs Kodols, they become friends. At the end of September of 1943 Atis graduated instructor course and returned to KRECNO VOLCHOU front. Then Atis was included in schedule of candidates who are going to send to military school to learn and to get officers rank. At the end of 1943. Atis Snebergs was sent to Germany or AUSTRIA to ( place name HERZ or GREZ) to start officers course. He did not completed this course, so he together with two cadets asked for furlough for some days to go to Latvia (to say good bay his girl and family) and Atis decided to stay in Latvia and fight against enemy. On November 16, 1944 Harijs Kodols was in hospital in Irlava ( Tukuma reg.) and Harijs met hospital attendant Lazdins, who told to Harijs that his friend Atis Snebergs is hard wounded in head. That is all of information I have.
Information about hospital I got from capt. Karlis Sneberg's daughter who is one of the sister of Atis Snebergs so and Her daughter ( capt. Karlis Sneberg's granddaughter) is may wife! Atis Sneberg's sister got this information about hospital from Harijs Kodol's diary. Harijs Kodols is legioneer from Jurmala, His diary was published in Latvia after renewal of independence

Hi!

Im looking for a wartime bio of Ustuf. A. Homka. The only info I have is that he served as Kp.Fhr in W.-Gren.Rgt.d.SS.44.

Best regards

I have some questions:
Did the latvian legion's hospital the same as SS Lazarett Riga ?
And do you have something about the structure and directors of this (or these)?

Do you know if german Stubaf Richard KAASERER serve for a brief period in Latvia at the beginning of the Latvian Legion (I've found the pic of a Stubaf "KASERERS" in Tevija) ?

Regards

Phil D.
Kaaserer served as Instruktions-Offizier für Infanterie unf Pionierausbilding der Lettische SS Freiwilligendivision in Riga 4.3.43 - 10.5.43 he then was posted to the 10 SS Division

Hello PK,
Atis Antons Homka
Born on 2-2-1917
CO 4. Kp./I. Btl./Waffen-Gren.-Rgt. 44 from ??-8-44 till 15-9-44 and from ??-44 till 5-45. Info found in this same thread.
When you type Atis Antons Homka through Google you'll find some more info as well, although most of it is in Latvian language......

Regarding Plensners, according to this thread he wasn't CO from Waffen-Gren.-Rgt. 44. The only two commanders mentioned here in this thread(let's build the latvian legion)are R. Kocins between 28-1-44/24-1-45 and G. Praudins between 24-1-45/8-5-45.
I've Plensners as CO from Waffen-Gren.-Rgt. 43 in 6-44

Greetings, Mike

Can anyone tell me if Augusts Jozovskis (or similar ) joined the latvian legion, I cannot find his name anywhere on anything, my father (relying on his mothers memory) thinks he was conscripted , but cant find anything anywhere , apparently was conscripted to the army , but not sure if this was the latvian army or the legion. Anyway news of his death was received Xmas eve 1944 , hoping to be able to confirm which battle/regiment etc.

Apologies if this is the wrong forum to post this question.
