Just stumbled on this thread. If I'm not mistaken the US prosecutor named in the NYT story on Mr. Monti's prosecution, Victor Woerheide, was the original prosecutor assigned, many years later to the Jeff McDonald "Green Beret" murder case at Fort Bragg. I think he died during those proceedings.

They posted this last year in the Daily Mail, claiming a new found photo of Monti, but given the misidentification of a number of other photos, I'm not 100% convinced.

Came across a danish-american Panzergrenadier called Max Donald some time ago - he had been at Sennheim, Bobruisk, Grafenwöhr and in Croatia - same locations as many other danish Freiwillige. Had the opportunity to look at bit closer at him and looking up the surname "Donald" instead came up with: Donald, George William Mac (Mac and Donald probably meant to be MacDonald), born 7/5-1922 in Buffalo - interesting as the above Charles MacDonald was born on the exact same day in the same place - either one person or twins. George William MacDonald served with the Freikorps Danmark.
