Yes. This is a crime. I eager to see the memorial of German fallen soldiers who took part in massacres in Ukraine. Baby yar .
I believe its next to the Memorial to the Brave Soviet NKVD who did the Katyn Massacre....

hi,
German war memorials were sites of both political conflict and personal mourning. Monumental displays of revanchism caused much controversy, but they were not prevalent. A nation without a national war memorial, Weimar Germany, was also one of the few European societies without a symbolic grave of the Unknown Soldier.

The 1919 peace treaty is a good point.
I saw the 1914/1919 version in some places for example in Germany and France.
For 1945 we must assume another logic, because the WW II peace treaty wasn't signed

A recent study by German historian Rüdiger Overmans found that the German military casualties were 5.3 million, including 900,000 men conscripted from outside of Germany's 1937 borders

It isn't a "recent study". It is from 1996.
Overmans is one of Germany´s leading historians in research of WWII losses, POW of all centuries but esp. WWII. He also made a study about casualties of Dresden air raid.
His study about german casualties of WWII (also his disertation) was published 1996 but got serveral updates and editions.

I have seen regional war memorials commemorating ww1 as 1914-1919 in the U.K. They are often expanded to include the 1939-1945 war too.

Interestingly some of the early ones refer to it as "The World War".
