Re: Interesting eBay pics
Hi emmanuel:
I think you are correct. It looks like there are two of these "beams". Given the design of the half track, they could not mount them on the sides as you see on many trucks.

Re: Interesting eBay pics
Those are the ramps used when placing the gun on the rear deck, the gun trailer was then used to carry the ammunition box. The SdKfz 10/4 is often seen with the ramps across the front like that, I suppose it is just a matter of how often you've looked at pictures of the vehicle.

Hi Bill and Emmanuel,
The equipment placed on the front of the SdKfz 10-4 vehicle are two ramps to load or unload the AA gun of the firing platform.

Re: Interesting eBay pics
Thanks to all of you for the explanation of the use of the beams on the Demag. I thought the weapon was permanently mounted on the vehicle and was removed with a sling or by a crane.
One of the reasons I so enjoy this Forum. I've learned more here in the last few years than I learned by reading books for the previous thirty years.
Here is another "Interesting pic" from ebay. Not really military but I would imagine that after the war started the military forces probably impressed it. Looks to me like a truck for repairing bridges or something like that.
Sorry, forgot ID. An almost identical truck is found in Regenberg's book "Lastwagen Album Magirus" where it is identified as an M 206 model

Re: Interesting eBay pics
As the nomenclature indicates on the side, this truck belonged to the "Reichsautozug Deutschland", a motorcade consisting of some 80 vehicles. It was used at mass party rallies to provide all the facilities, including the grandstands, sound system, various eateries, etc. The Reichsautozug Deutschland equipped all political and non-political rallies of the Party, their divisions, and related units with necessary technical equipment. It also provided the administartion and security at these mass events. The column leader was directly under the Joseph Goebbels, the Reichspropagandaleiter der NDSAP. It later became Hauptamt of the Reichpropagandaleitung.

There is also a book dealing with this topic and its vehicles:The Reichsautozug
The Reichsautozug, or RAZ, was a mobile propaganda and escort unit of the Nazi Party. In January 1933, SA-Sturmführer Hermann Schäfer of the Niedersachsen district founded the precursor to the Reichsautozug, which began playing Nazi propaganda on loud speakers. The force eventually evolved into a fully technical unit. At this point, it was renamed the Reichsautozug. The RAZ spread Nazi propaganda through loudspeakers, radio transmissions, and building decorations. They also swept streets and transported goods or people. Their job was mostly to support Nazi party rallies and escort and provide security for prominent party officials. The RAZ accomplished this task using a fleet of specially tailored cars equipped with all the technical equipment needed to complete their assigned duties. Some vehicles even included stands that could be set up on the roof of the car for speech giving. The RAZ was given the official designation of Reichsautozug "Deutschland" der Reichspropagandaleitung der NSDAP. Hermann Schäfer, put in charge in 1936, commanded the group. The group was first used for the opening of the Reichautobahn between Köln and Düsseldorf. In 1936, the RAZ had their own garage headquarters, the "Reichsautobahnhof," built in Munich, Germany. The RAZ was divided into four sub-sections: "München," "Donau," "Niedersachsen," and "Rheinland." By 1939, the group attended any function that required propaganda or technical equipment. The RAZ participated in several major rallies including Hitler's visit to Vienna.

Re: Interesting eBay pics
Aha Leo:
And..........what did I just write a little bit ago. How much we can learn on this Forum is priceless!!!!!
I don't have such interest in the subject to buy the book, but could the photo indicate some sort of platform for either the giving of speeches or perhaps for a platform for official photographers or something like that??
Thanks,
Bill

Here's a picture of the loading or unloading of a 2 cm flak gun on a sdkfz-10-4.
Looking at this picture,i would say that they didden't used 2 but 4 ramps
In this picture it looks like they have connected 2 ramps to gether,to give it a better loading/unloading angle.
Old e-bay picture 2007
And a picture of a sdkfz 10-4 carrying 3-4 ramps
