Post by Peter H » 16 Jul 2008, 10:38

Mentioned here:

http://www.feldgrau.net/forum/viewtopic ... 24&t=15560
France. (1942 - Apr 43)
18 Aug 42: Fi 156 belonging to the Stab crashed and burned after take-off on a planned flight from Cerisi to Belle Etoile, 100%, Obstlt.i.G. Graf von Üxküll-Gyllenbrand and one other both killed.
Has anyone got any details on the Graf?

Is there noting on him on the net at all?,saw this mention of the family name, but maybe knew of below, related to the Graf von Stauffenberg family.Or this info better to explain,of the link to the Stauffenberg's,"The brothers were born into an old and distinguished aristocratic South German Catholic family. His parents were the last Oberhofmarschall of the Kingdom of Württemberg, Alfred Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, and Caroline née von Üxküll-Gyllenbrand. Among his ancestors were several famous Prussians, including most notably August von Gneisenau".

Hi Peter,

GHdA 18, 1958 has this:

Jakob Johann Conrad-Bernhard Charles Edgar René Ernst Graf v. Uxkull-Gyllenband (sic!), * Hannover 12.9.1905, + über Frankreich...1942, Oberst der Luftwaffe

His father Rudolf was the younger brother of Alfred, Claus v. Stauffenbergs grandfather.
There are also 'Freiherrn' with Umlaut.

Hope this helps,

Frank

Hello Gentlemen!

Conrad-Bernhard Graf von Üxküll-Gyllenband was (as Major i.G.) the Ia of 7. Flieger-Division under Generalleutnant Süssmann in preparation for the assault on Crete. Source: Erich Busch "Die Fallschirmjäger-Chrinik 1935-1945" (1983).

I believe that GHdA is wrong re his first names.

1. The death register of Berlin (1942) says: Jakob-Johann Bovis [should read Boris] Konrad Ernst Graf von Üxküll-Gyllenband
2. The churck books of Hannover (birth 1905) gives: Jakob Johann Boris Konrad Ernst Graf von Üxküll-Gyllenband
3. His death card just shows: "Konrad"
