The next question is it one the Italians have dug in or one the British dug in that has been overrun?forttravel wrote:Back to topic

Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
Hello All,
maybe I asked it earlier, but is there any evidence/document/hint that a tank turret emplacement was built in Budapest, Hungary?
There was an article in a Hungarian magazine about the sige (1944-45) and iirc a German officer claimed there was a German bunker with a tank turret at the St. Gellert square.
The location was rebuilt during the 90ies and I contacted the authorities, but they replied noting was found during excavations (except for medieval ruins), so I have my doubts.
Thank you
Adam

Hello Marc
Nice ringstand. The base plate was octagonal as usual, the only unusual thing is, that there is 16 instead of 8 bolts in the concrete. But the octagonal base plates were manufactured separately and were thus not a part of the tank, and therefore there may have been several different types of plates.
I think that the turret on your ringstand was a FT. The original ball bearing ring of a FT tank has an internal diameter of 91 cm, almost the same as the opening in the ringstand. But hard to say.
greetings Lars

Hello Adam
Lars
Probably it was just a disabled/dug-in tank and not a tank turret bunker? There was an article in a Hungarian magazine about the sige (1944-45) and iirc a German officer claimed there was a German bunker with a tank turret at the St. Gellert square.

Hello Friends
The 16 bolts for the Ft turret are in a pattern , two in a corner . I don't think that is the same as on the photo ?? ( BRV )

Hello Tom
Thanks for the pictures. The four Panther turret photos must be Italy (Gothic Line). Do you have any information about where the PzII turret picture was taken?

I was curious, because I thought that it might be from Italy, and AFAIR I have never seen a picture of an installed PzII turret from there. The surrounding landscape may look like Italy, but it might be southern France as well.Unfortunately, I do not know where this picture was taken with the PZII tower.

Some pictures from Panther Stellung area: https://forum.axishistory.com/download/ ... &mode=view
Pz I, Pz II and T-70 turrets. Note dual construction (concrete + wood) ringstand style.
