539th Division z.b.V

Formed in Prague on 15th Oct 1939 by the renaming of 1 Landesschutzen Command. In 1940 the diviision contained the Staff/72nd Landesschutzen Rgt and the 504th, 618th, 822nd 373rd & 374th Landesschutzen Battalions. On 10 Sep 1943 the Staff/49th Landesschutzen Rgt moved to Prague, where the 539th Signals Company & 539th Artillery Battalion were formed. In 1945 the Staff/49th Landesschutzen Rgt was placed with the 48th Infantry Division in Slovakia and the Staff/72nd Landesschutzen (as mobilized with the 1st & 2nd Battalions) was placed with the 168th Infantry Division in Silesia.

Commanders in 1944/45 - Wilhelm Thomas
Clemens Betzel or Helmuth Beukemann

540th Division z.b.V

Formed on 15th Oct 1939 in Brunn by the re-designation of the 11th Landesschutzen Command (formerly 3/XVII Landesschutzen Rgt). It was also known as the 540th Infantry Division. In March 1940 the division had:
Staff/182nd Landesschutzen Rgt
655th, 905th, 911th & 912th Landesschutzen Battalions
540th Signals Company
540th Battery

Commanders in 1944/45 - Benignus Dippold
Hans Windeck
Friedrich-Carl Gottschalk

That's pretty much all I have been able to find out on those two units. Mitcham's German Order Of Battle says pretty much the same thing as the above (and is where I found the divisional commanders) and Lexikon-der-wehrmacht has even less information.
