Hello

Jos - that seems to be right, and that narrows the timeframe.

http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 90&start=0

12.08.1943 - 01.01.1945 Kommandeur des Verteidigungsstabes Scheveningen

Rommel was in Holland between 2nd and 5th of january 1944 and visited Scheveningen 3rd of january 1944

You mean that both pictures are from that event. If so the other officer could be of Erwin Tzschoppe´s staff.

PS: The pictures are not present in Hans Sakkers book about Rommel!!

Regards
Kurt

Date is surely later. Tzschoppe was only promoted to SS-Oberfuhrer rank on january 30,1944.

I see to Generals Dr. Meise and Straube. The photo could have been taken during the visit to
Fort de la Cité d'Aleth, Saint-Malo (24.01.1944).

Hello

Thanks Graveland - both Meise and Straube was indeed participating in the Inspection around St. Malo and Cite D´Aleth too - but not sure if it is Cite D`Aleth though, because of the bunker type? It could be Pointe de la Varde or another MKB/HKB :-)

Hello everyone,

We are on the coast between Boulogne and Calais, in Northern France, on 18 April 1944. Behind Rommel lies Generalleutnant Otto Elfeldt, 47th Infantry Division commandeur, the unit which served the part of Atlantikwall between Boulogne and Calais. Just next to Elfedt this is Speidel, then General der Artillerie Johann Sinnhuber, 82th Army Corps commander, whose 47. ID was a part of it. The photo belonged to a staff chief which lies on Sinnhuber's right. Source : www.alexautographs.com

Does anyone knows who are the generals with Rommel? And when or where this pic was taken?

Hello everyone,

A nice detail on the post 467 picture : in the foreground can be seen a KVA C map (between Boulogne and Calais). By the way the black circle on the map represented Festung Boulogne. Source of the map : BAMA.

Hello

I found an article from a Danish newspaper from sunday the 12th of December 1943 regarding Rommels inspection in Denmark.

The article itself is not interesting as the papers were not allowed to write much, but there is this picture - where we can see Rommel and Hanneken at the right - and then som children watching quite near Rommel.

It is the first time I see civilians on pictures from Rommels inspections - have that been seen else where?

Also the newspaper articles, as there is found some in Denmark written in december when Rommel was here, but also some written in january after Rommel had left Denmark.

Is there other european newspaper articles about Rommels inspections? Were newspapers allowed to write about it in Holland, Belgium and France?

The picture is of bad quality, sorry :-)

Best regards
Kurt
