Prevailing image of Kwantung Army is one in 1941, at the height of its power. But in 1931, it had very few men. An infantry division plus 6 independent infantry battalions, authorized by treaty at maximum 16,500. Lt.Gen.Mori Muraji (森連, 1876-1937) was the commander of 独立守備隊 independent garrison, the group of 6 battalions, Aug 1930-Aug 1932. Retired in 1934.Peter H wrote:Same source
