At the moment we are in the discussion, if that´s a catamaran-type vessel on the photo (there are two bows visible), like the late Siebelfähren or Engeneer-Landing-Vessel.

Hi Sturm,
referring to your photo of patrol boats from 3/9/2010:

The river is Danube, the city on the other (northern) shore is Bratislava (now capital of Slovakia). The ships are moored to city part Petrzalka on the southern shore of Danube , which was a fortified area in 1938. The white ship moored to northern shore is ferry-boat Propeler.
The photo was most probably taken in March 1938. In the morning of 15th of March, the German Danube flotilla entered
Bratislava Winter Port, which was the base of Czechoslovak River Navy. This action was a part of German operation started in the night from 14th to 15th March with intention to seize military bases and production plans in western Slovakia ( even when Slovakia proclaimed independence on Czechoslovakia on 14th of March and became a German ally !)
From the small boats taking part , 6 were newly-built FR- Boats ( Flussminenräuboot = river minesweeper). But they had
an armoured bridge with a small gun turred and are with sure not the boats in your picture. Thus, the boats depicted there are most probably FHR -Boats ( Flusshilfsräumboot= auxiliary river minesweeper) - 5 of them ( FHR 2 to 5) belonged to same type. The gun behind the bridge ( covered by tarpauline) should be MG C/30. The boas were 15metres long and displaced 13,5 tons. Did you find more photos of these or similar river warships on E-bay?

Hi Sturm,
yes, the 3 boats are R-Boats , unfortunately I cannot say from which production batch they are. The first and the third and fourth boats have LC/30 mounts (without the guns) covered by tarpaulines. In the background there is a torpedo boat (small destroyer) of Raubvogel or Raubtier class
I shall much appreciate any picture of any river warship you can find and show on this forum

Here's my first time in the Kriegsmarine area. I've posted a ship. It looks to me kind of old. The guns protruding from the ports seems non-WWII. Can someone please give me just a brief idea of what type of ship this is and what its vintage is? Thank you.

Hello Garlock!

Hope all is well, besides not being able to identify ship...

I would say pre-dreadnought warship similar to the british Majestic-class battleships
(side-by-side stacks and armament). Probably a US Illinois-class ship.
I'm sure a more knowledgeable member will post the correct answer for you.

It seems that the caption is correct. I haven't found any info about this ship on the Net, except for this (see page 6):

Search gave me not a very lucrative result.
These ships were projected as multi-purpose ones - to be used in escort, ASW and minesweeping roles. 12 ships were ordered in 1943, but construction of only 4 (MZ-1-MZ-4) really began, and only MZ-1 was commissioned in August, 1944. She survived the war and was transferred to Great Britain. Her later fate is unknown.
