Oberstleutnant i.G. von Berlichingen
Hellow all,
I am looking for some more info on this staff officer (DOB, DOD, assignments...) This is what I've gathered until now :
Oberstleutnant i.G. Wolf-Götz Freiherr von Berlichingen-Jagsthausen
Ia of 21. Pz.-Div. 15.07.1943 - 15.09.1944
related to the historical Götz von Berlichingen
was a guest of honour when the 17.SS-Pz.-Gren.-Div. "Götz von Berlichingen" was solemny presented its armband on 10.04.1944 - he even received also an armband in honour of his ancestor...
was a patron of this division...
was absent on the eve of D-Day while on trip to Paris with Generalmajor Edgar Feuchtinger : during the critical hours neither the Divisional commander, nor his chief of staff were present...
Does anybody know what happened to him after his command ? Did he have to suffer repercussions for his absence ? Feuchtinger was later on court-martialed for his little trip to Paris and some other mishaps...
As usual... many thanks in advance,
Charles

Re: Oberstleutnant i.G. von Berlichingen
You're aware of his brother, Dittrich? Finished the war as Oberst commanding Radfahr Aufklärungs Brigade Norwegen. In jan '39 he was an oberleutnant commanding 9./Kav.Rgt. 18, promoted Major 1.1.43 and oberstleutnant 1.6.44. I don't have the date of his promotion to oberst but it must have been in the final weeks of the war.

Hi Harmel
Yes, along with the '39. For my 'Norwegians' i also have a few very useful lists from May '45 drawn up by the Germans for the allies. They reveal a number of very late promotions that have been otherwise missed.

Ha, many thanks, gentlemen, you have been excellent in your help, as usual...

Cheers,
Charles
