Munitionsschlepper I ?
Munitionsschlepper I ?
Some sources states that vehicle shown on attached picture next to Flakpanzer I was a Munitionsschlepper.Closer look at it makes my suspicion grows...
1.Why glass window this size was installed in an armored ammunition carrier?
2.All three vehicles visible are different. It looks like they have been made on "one-off" basis by different crews in the field.
Second vehicle in a row lookes like kl.Pz.Bef.Wg. with roof cutted off.
3.There are four people crew in each one of 'em - a little too high number for a vehicle this size. There was probably no room for an ammo or anything else - private belongings of the crew were stowed at the engine deck.Helmets are visible.
Do anyone of you have the knowledge to definitely said "it was..." or "it wasn't..." an munitionsschlepper also telling me the source of your knowledge?Maybe some kind of bibliography?
Thanx in advance!

Hello.
Yes they are Munitionsschepper "Laube" for the Flakpanzer I.
The ammunition transported by the flakpanzer I are so reduced that this one was almost always accompanied by a trailer sd.Ah.51.
And as that was not enough, a solution was found by accompanying each flakpanzer by a supply machine based on the same frame, machine which was used at the same time for transport of the other members of crew. ( complete crew 5 to 8 men).
The differences between the vehicles could been explain by the fact that these vehicles like the flakpanzer I are only a conversion and not a factory model
A picture from Steelmaster Hors-serie n°2" Les Flakpanzer "
On this picture several are gathred here behind their assigneted Flakpanzer.

Thanx for sharing your knowledge, guys.Could you also tell me where I can find more info?Preferably of "first hand" kind, like a memoires, war diaries etc.?
I can't imagine where they can store any ammo crates inside Pz.Kpfw. I chasis together with four people.
BTW - some russian sources stating 614 FlaK Abt. used Sd.Kfz.250/6 as their ammo transporters. If this is true - these vehicles probably has been used as crew carriers for the reason I've stated above.

Re: Munitionsschlepper I ?
Hello M J C,
when and where were these auctions? I couldn't find them on ebay Germany. But it is possible that the seller stoped this auction to sell them to a rich collector I think. I have observed such a situation some weeks ago. Same seller, nice colour slides of Panzer 4 G (F2), Beute T34 and KW 1, Marder 3 etc. and the auctions were stopped after several hours.
Did you save these pictures to your hard disc? I would be pleased if you could post them to the forum or would send me a zip file with the pictures. I could offer the pictures of the vehicles mentioned above if you have missed them.
Regards, Holger.

Christian, They were a factory build not a field conversion.Christian Ankerstjerne wrote:Since the "2 cm Flak auf Pz.Kpfw.I" was a field conversion, so you any ammunition carrier be, which would explain any lack of proper documentation.
