Hi all,

I have, long time ago, this picture on my computer, identified as 15cm Skoda M14-16 howitzer captured from Czechoslovakia and reused by the Germans as 15cm sFH14-16t.

However, a more careful look shows that this howitzer have a type of muzzle brake and a longer barrel. This makes me think that maybe is one of the modernized variants of the Hungarians in the 30s: 1914/35M or 1914/39M. :?

Does anyone have any information and / or images of these upgrades?

Which was the modernization? What was the difference between the two upgrades?
It appears that the range was significantly improved.

Thanks in advance. Sturm78

Hi Sturm

It has many features of the 10 cm sFH M14 or M14/19 but I have not seen that muzzle brake on one of these howitzers. The Hungarian 10.5 cm light howitzer M40 had a pepper pot muzzle brake but did not look like the gun in the photo.

Well, Sturm, if you would buy for instance Kosar's Artillerie im 20n Jahrhundert, you would not have so many doubts :)
Kosar shows this weapon as the Hungarian 149mm Field Howitzer M14/39 or 15cm 14/39 M, very few deatils.
It appears the barrel cal is longer than the original M14, that was L14. The Hungarian upgrade also had a better range: 10,7 km to 8.0 km. I have read somehwere about these weapons, including the 1935 model, but I forgot where.

Just a thought. Bofors made similar holes in the barrel and as Mavag had close contact with Bofors (and therefore Krupp) the answer may be kept by Swedes.

Hi Clive,

I think this is not a 10cm weapon but rather a 15cm Skoda M14-16 modernized with a longer barrel and a muzzle break.
1914/35M or 1914/39M variant ?? :?

Any information or/and images about these hungarian upgrades will be wellcome.

Thanks in advance. Sturm78

Hello all.
I found information that 104th Hungarian armored train was armed with 8 cm 22M. field guns. Here's a photo:

However, there's no information in the Internet (including AHF) about such a gun. Maybe some Hungarian handbooks can help?
Thanks in advance.
With best regards, Ilya.

Sturm, it is definitely crewed by Hungarians and given the small size of the gun I'd guess it is their 8cm gun but I'll be damned if I can remember who made it unless it was Skoda.

I think that this 105-mm gun 31M (Bofors) or 150-mm howitzer 31M (Bofors)

Thank you, karlik

Do you have any wartime image of the 105mm 31M (Bofors) gun or 150mm 31M (Bofors) howitzer in hungarian service ??
