but (sorry my french is more than rusty):
as far as i understood this, a Général de division is allowed to "have the rights" of an général de corps d'armée/ général d'armée (and thus the 4th star?).Général de division est, dans l'armée française, un grade militaire d'officier général, supérieur à général de brigade. Il constitue de droit le sommet des grades militaires. Néanmoins, depuis un décret du 6 juin 1939[1],[2] des généraux de division peuvent prendre « rang et appellation » de général de corps d'armée ou de général d'armée, avec des responsabilités et des privilèges supérieurs.
