Is it the 'para'helmet? Otherwise I give up....Please help me out of my misery.... :(

Well, I must have gone into hibernation or something for taking so long to answer. Check out the MG34 on the Lafette tripod. If you look close, you can see the sight on the tripod is the MGz40 sight, and not the MGZ sight. The MGz40 sight was not introduced into service until Nov 42. The exhibit in the museum depicts the invasion of Norway in 1940.

Here is a different view of the sight in the exhibit (the sight is original and in the rare gray color).

From the new Cdn War Museum in Ottawa. It's pretty tight in their vehicle Gallery so not the best pics.

There are lots of museums, great and small in Normandy. My personal favourites are:#

Pegasus bridge museum in Benouville...newly created, with a huge Horsa glider outside.

http://www.normandy1944.com/index_content.php

Musee de la Paix in Caen....a weird name for a museum about war, but excellent, especially tracing how the war started, rise of Hitler/Nazism etc. Good cinema clips etc inside.

The following link gives you the names of all the museums in the area. Not all have their own website.

http://www.normandy-tourism.org/gb/08dd ... /caen.html

Hope they are useful.

Here are some pictures (170) from the Armádní muzeum, Praha (Army museum, Prague). There are pics of WW1 and WW2 uniforms and small arms, go to page 4 to see the first WW2 German uniforms. There are also pics of a 1945-dated Mauser 98K and of a Volksgewehr 1-5.

I was not able to name each photo because I don't know all the materials presented here. Please PM me to help me to put a name on some photos (I.E. German soldier etc..)

There is an amazing, barely known Holocaust museum in Montreal, which historically, had the 2nd largest holocaust survivors population in the world. It now is at the 3rd world rank for remaining survivors.

here's an article for those who'd like to know more about Montreal's holocaust survivors.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/ ... rsary.html

Here is the museum's website.

http://www.mhmc.ca/en

It has tons of items from the early pogroms of the middle ages to early 1900's Jewish life, Nazi rise, Concentration Camps, Ghetto memorablia etc.

I saw the US Holocaust Memorial at the Smithsonian a few years back, and this one is close to it. Not in size, but in substance. Located in the heart of Montreal's Jewish ''Campus''.

You should have a look at the Channel Islands Military Museum in St.Ouen in Jersey if you want to see some German kit on display in a 10.5cm casemate.
