You are right again. But it is difficult to say, is it the type L 4500 S or L 4500 A. Here a pic of such a vehicle (L 4500 A), which survived (source of the pic: https://bos-fahrzeuge.info/news/Die-Hau ... -Teil-4-75 ).

Best regards

Hi Bert,
It isn't difficult. On the wartime picture it is LF 4500S and your survivor is LF 4500A. The difference is in the front wheel hubs.

Hi Max,

many thanks from me, too, for the pic and the drawing. A little correction: the vehicle on Your pic is the type L 1500.
Here a pic of the type L 1500 S (source: "Feuerwehrtypenbuch 1900 - 1945" by Udo Paulitz).

Best regards

Thanks, Bert. I was uncertain about the "S". The drawing must be incorrectly labelled as well. Is the one you posted designated as LF 8?

Max

Hi Max,

You are right. The drawing is incorrectly labelled. The vehicle I posted is designates as LLG (leichtes Löschgruppenfahrzeug). From 1943 this vehicle had the designation LF 8 (Löschfahrzeug). The Mercedes Benz type L 1500 S was produced from autumn 1941 to 1944. So it could have both designations. Here a pic of such a vehicle designated as LF 8 (source of the pic: "Feurwehrfahrzeuge im Einsatz 1939 - 1945" by Michael Foedrowitz).

Best regards

Bert

Hi Bert,
Thanks for clarifying that. The classification of German vehicles can be somewhat confusing at times but is always interesting. :)

Hi Max,

it´s great to be back on this forum. Thank You very much for posting this interesting pic of a Magirus fire truck. It is the type Magirus M 30 S Kraftfahrspritze KS 15 (automotive syringe). Source of the pic: "Feuerwehr Typenbuch 1900 - 1945" by Udo Paulitz.

And there is one Magirus which survived the war and is still in use: in Jork, a small town near to Hamburg. The vehicle is called "Oma" ("Grandma").

Hi Bert,
Yes it is great to back! Thanks for the ID and the 2 great photos. However I'm a little perplexed by some details which are presumably due to mixing/matching of chassis and body styles:

ebay photo: front pump, eight bolt wheels, 2 equipment/hose bays
KS-15: no front pump, eight bolt wheels , 3 equipment/hose bay
Oma: front pump, six bolt wheels, 2 equipment/hose bays

I'd appreciate your thoughts on these differences.
Cheers,
Max

Hi Max,

thank You very much for Your reply. You are right some details don´t match. I have to excuse me. I am wafully sorry, that I have made a big mistake with the second pic. But first to the exact designation as far as it is possible: it is a 15 Kraftfahrspritze KS 15 (automotive syringe). Since 1943 these vehicles became the designation Löschfahrzeug LF 15 - TS (Tragkraftspritze), when they had a pump in front of the bonnet (like the vehicle on Your pic). The vehicle on the pic I posted had the same pump (1500-l/min.), but in the rear part of the superstructure of the vehicle. The vehicle on Your pic had an additional portable motor pump (800-l/min.).
Now to my mistake: the vehicle on the second pic is not a Magirus, but a Hansa-Lloyd type H 3500, a special chassis with the designation for vehicles of the fire brigades. I was fooled by the signet of Magirus, but here it is the producer of the water pump.
My complimet to You: You have very sharp eyes. That means for me: I must be more accurate.

Best regards

Bert

I Bert,
Thanks very much for your further identification of these vehicles. As a non-German speaker, these various designations tend to be somewhat confusing, but your explanation straightened things out for me (at least for now  ).
Cheers,
Max
