Yes, that's right, this is the Vickers Class E aircraft machine gun.
And yes, quite right, the notation "Class" was used for commercial modifications.

Interesting that with a long established cooperation between HMG & Vickers that the RAF went with Colt/Brownings when modern fighters were adopted

These machine guns, the Japanese removed from their tanks Type-2592.
And installed on improvised mounts. Therefore, they have such an extravagant appearance.

Hi all,

Can somebody identify these machine guns ?

The mount of the machin gun to the right seems a standard Sokolov mount, so I think the machine gun coulb be a 7.62mm Maxim M1905 or M1910

But, What about the machine gun to the left ? The mount is similar to the Sokolov but ita have some differencies.... :?

These are Russian machine guns Maxim M1910. Judging by the muzzle brake, the barrels of both machine guns were replaced by German ones. From 7.62x54r to 7.92x57. The same muzzle brake is used on the MG-08 and it is completely unsuitable for the Russian Maxim. Machine gun on the right on the early mount Sokolov M1910. Machine gun left on wheeled mount Vickers M1910.

Hi Hisname.

About the machinegun to the right.
Was possible to change simply the barrel of the machine gun without to do changes to the other mechanisms of the machinegun ?
Or perhaps it is a entire 7.92mm MG08 machine gun on a captured Sokolov Russian mount ?....

Ummmhhh..... I never heard of a "Vickers M1910 wheeled mount"... :? Do you have any information about this ?
Apart, this machine gun seems to have a wrap around the barrel and a small shield... :?

When remaking the Russian machine gun Maxim into German, he replaced the barrel, the tape receiver and the sight. In 90% of cases, the sign “S” was applied to the cover of the casing.

Here is a photo of the converted Russian Maxim M1905.

The Germans had excellent supply and I do not recall the cases when MG-08 was installed on Sokolov's mount.

The Vickers M1910 machine was used exclusively in the Russian army. The British had a similar one, but the Russian Military Department insisted that the mount be modernized. And wheels and a shield were attached to it.It was produced for a very short time, it was quickly replaced by the Sokolov mount.

A protective armored casing and a shield from the German MG-08 are installed on the machine gun. In Russian Maxim, he was attached without problems.
Such photos often come across.

Thanks, Hisname

Therefore, we have

To the right, a Russian Maxim M1910 on Sokolov mount modified by Germans with 7.92mm MG8 barrels and other changes
To the left, a Russian Vickers M1910 modified by Germans in the same manner.

Vickers M1910 was the designation of the whole set (machine gun and mount) or just the mount ?

This is a separate name.
To be completely precise, the full name is: "Vickers Tripod of 1910" or "Wheeled Vickers Tripod of 1910".
Like other tripods and wheeled mounts, she was on her own, without a machine gun.
How to mounts:
Soklov M1910, Sokolov M1916, Kolesnikov, Vickers M1906, Vickers M1909, Vickers M19010, and many others. The description is given in a separate book.
