High Seas Fleet picture

This is kind of neat. It's a photograph taken from a Zeppelin showing the High Seas Fleet battleline doing the 180 degree "battle turn away" maneuver that twice saved it from destruction at the Battle of Jutland.

In this maneuver, the last ship in the column begins to turn first, and then each ship up the column turns when the one behind it has begun. The end result is the column winds up sailing in the opposite direction in the minimum amount of time possible.
