Hi Bill,

thank You very much for starting this new thread. A really great idea. And a very interesting field of discoveries, I think. Maybe we can try to ID the busses like we suceeded in the trucks and cars. Holger already began. But there are a lot of not yet identified busses . Do You agree and can You support this idea?

Regards

Bert

Hi Bill,

I don´t know how can I thank You for Your help. I think it took a lot of time to ID the busses. Thank You very, very much. That´s really great. The unknown busses are still to ID. I´ll try the next days, when I´ll have more time. But I have some problems with busses, but it is to compete.

Regards

Bert

Hi Bert:

It is indeed a problem with the ID of busses.

Other than the rather few purpose built more or less military pattern busses, most of the civilian busses were built in rather small to very small series, often one off variants, by a really large number of coachbuilders.

Almost like the horse drawn vehicles before the motor vehicle became dominant in the period after 1910 or so.
There were probably hundreds if not thousands of small companies that would buy one or several chassis and use the very cheap labour of the time to beat out panels of metal and shape them to the chassis.

I have in my library, a German Dealer Catalouge from around 1939 that covers the period 1932-1939 that has maybe 40 photos of coachbuilt busses and not one is the same.

In any case, it will be fun to try to ID not only the manufacturer of the chassis but also the model of the vehicle as we go further on.

Bill
