Re: Bloody Hansa LLoyd/Borgwards
Hi George,
I think your last pic is a HL/Borgward 3 Tonner.
Bertram lets discus
Is this a late Hansa-Lloyd 3 Tonner or a early Borgward 3 Tonner
HL 3 Tonner signs?
- R.Frank "LKW der Wehrmacht" site 30 first pic the name HL in the Borgward company sign ( ok it looks like the Borgward sign, but is it the original sign???) on the radiatormask
- only one tow hook
- a flag holder on the left side
Borgward 3 Tonner
- early times a diamant in the radiator
2 typical tow hooks
It could be a HL 3 Tonner whats your opinion?
there are more pics about HL/Borgwards with only 1 tow hook ???
best regards
Henning

Re: Bloody Hansa LLoyd/Borgwards
Hi Henning,
to the truck. I think it is an early Borgward G.W.
The wheels of the civil version of the 3-tonner of Hansa-Lloyd, called Europa III and IV, have six bolt nuts, but the Borgward 3-tonner have eight bolt nuts. Not the best argument, I know.
But did Hansa-Lloyd produced 3-tonners of the type Europe with the open cab (Einheits-Führerhaus) for the Wehrmacht?
Regards
Bert

Its a great pic for me. I think its a early Borgward 1,5 tonner ( L2000). Early because the doors mounted at the backsite of the cabin, the later version mounted the doors at the windscreen site.
1,5 tonner because the site ventilation openings ( sorry I dont know the english word for " Kühlerschlitze" )
are near the bottom of the front mudguards.
Is it a auction and is it open?
best regards
Henning
