Would there be any chance of finding out if there are any veterans of the Third reich who are members of the forum that we could post questions directly too? I realise this might be difficult But it would be interesting to ask the people who were there some questions.

Haen is a Waffen-SS veteran, but I've not heard from him in a while.

Marcus, do you refer to Hannes Göhler?

If so, he passed away on Feb 21, according to a post at Feldgrau:

I believe there are a few vets that lufk (or at least used to) at feldgrau.net

I have been fortunate enough to talk with 2 Heer and 3 SS veterans in my time. The SS vets (2 Grossdeutschland, 1 Das Reich) are very secretive, naturally

Brig: Großdeutschland was no SS unit.

I know it was a division, I've heard it in countless interviews, books, etc). All I remember was a Das Reich and I believe Grossdeutschland...or is there a similar word? I know they were SS, saw their photos, but can't remember the unit anymore, grr :x

Brig, as Panzerass says, Grossdeutschland wasn't a Waffen SS formation but a Heer unit.

Brig, perhaps you're thinking of 'Deutschland', a regiment of the SS 'Das Reich' Division.
