Nice topic, which I haven't discovered until now...

I found this nice image on Ebay. Can somebdody identify the torpedo? G 7 series???

the shown torpedoes belong to the forerunner model of the G7a-Torpedo. I assume there are G 7v or G 7v* torpedoes. These torpedo types were in the use at the German Navy on the “pocket battle ship” DEUTSCHLAND (1935 change to 21' torpedoes), on the light cruisers (EMDEN, K-class cruisers and LEIPZIG up to 1934, then 21' torpedoes), on the old, formerly imperial torpedo boats and the training ships SCHLESIEN and SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN.

The G/7 is also a likely candidate - it's virtually identical to the G7v in appearance/measurements (the G/7 is slightly longer - 7083mm vs 6884/6883).

As far as I know, the G7v (might included G7v*) was used all thhrough the war. For example at Torpedobatterie Narvik (vessels "Lilian" and "Droth") and Torpedobatterie Korshavn and Porsöen in the Ofotfiord (Narvik) until september 1944.

According to the german torpedobestand of may 1941 (ref PG 33323 on T-1022 Roll 2061), there were 313 G7v torpedoes in use at that time.

Can anyone id. the model of this torpedo?

It's an early production G7a(TI) torpedo (4-blade propeller) with a type 1210 exersicehead (single blowingmechanism).

Loading a torpedo on a M1935 german torpedoboot:

Well... no. It seems the torpedo has been pulled out of the tube for a regular maintenance-routine. The airhose is connected to the Füllventil, so obviously they have checked (or topped off) the pressure in the airtank. The mechanic is adjusting the Sperrung-strecke (ie: the initial distance for which the depthrudder is locked), suggesting they have also checked and manually run the depthrudder servoengine for lubrication and to make sure the rudder travels at max deflection and is properly aligned in zero-position. I don't remember the interval, but I assume this was done weekly, with some other checks as well (including manually turning the engine).

The torpedo is (yet again) an early-production G7a(TI), but it's also "new" enough to be fitted with either the new (strengthened) engine and/or the improved TA I depthmechanism, according to the green ring around the cover for the depthmechanism.

I can't tell from the photo if it's a drilling- or vierling rohrsatz, and what kind of vessel it is.

The Finnish torpedo is ex. Russian 45 cm, made during WWI and left in Finland in 1918. Finnish type was T/12. The boat behind is one of the four Coast Guard patrol boats (VMV 9, VMV 10, VMV 11 and VMV 17, later VMV 15 replaced one of them) finns used as auxiliary MTB:s in 1941. The tender is ex. passenger ship von Döbeln.

I found this interesting image on Ebay: abandoned railcar loaded with torpedoes. Model ??

Strange... To me this looks like torpedo mock-ups. If it's german, such devices were used for different purposes: Verification and testing of torpedotubes prior to installation and after repairs (weight/alignments etc), probably also for test of loading- and transportation installations (cranes, storageracks, trolleys etc).
I'm not sure, but they don't look like real torpedoes to me.

Seems british to me (the pistol). Hard to see details of the tail, but it could very well be a Mk VIII.

A torpedo launcher on a German warship:

First time I see a photo of this, but I assume it's the weather-protection employed on the torpedolaunchers of the Flottentorpedoboote towards the end of the war (I can't find the book were I found the description...)?

This model seems different to posted by me in this thread on 24 Jan 2014 with closed cabin...

The "streamlined" hut mounted on the torpedolauncher for certain cruisers (ref the previous photo from Admiral Hipper, and those US post-war photos from the same I have attached below), were introduced towards the end of the war according to certain litterature (which I can't locate at the moment...).
There were also other variants of such "huts" - ref attached photos.

No idea of what type but the warheads, from their colors, are fitted with dummy practice warheads. the low freeboard of the vessel could indicate a torpedo recovery vessel.

Doesn't look US, but I haven't seen all the ships assigned to that job.
